Game crashes when loading scenario

Hello,

I do not manage to start the game; it crashes a few seconds after I click "start" on the main menu. Before the crash occurs, I sometimes (not always) got a small "unity" window popping up (see attached screenshot). Sometimes it does not crash but stays indefinitely on the loading screen.

I have tried uninstall/install again, restarted computer, updated Steam, no change.

Any idea how to solve this?

Thanks!

PS: is there a way to skip the 3 minutes introduction video? Seen it 10 times already...

I am experiencing the same issue trying to start a game, I see the exact same pop up shown in OP pic.

I checked integrity in the steam client then uninstalled and reinstalled.

Also very interested in skipping intro after seeing a dozen times do to reloads.

Hello,

exact same problem here. Also tried lowering graphics, running in windowed mode, updating NVIDIA drivers and verifying file integrity to no avail.

Trying to run the game on: Win10 64bit, AMD FX-8350, 8gb RAM, Geforce GTX 970

I attached my diagnostics files and my dxdiag for easier troubleshooting.

To the dev team, best of luck with the game and looking forward to play it at some point! :)

Best wishes from Sweden!

Update: Oh, I just remembered that I have disabled 2 of my CPU cores (leaving 6) for overheating reasons. I don't know it that affects anything but thought I should mention it.

My game started working after deleting the "Temporary" Folder in the steamapps\common\Humankind OPENDEV\Public\Documents folder, followed by restarting my computer. Bonus, I was able to skip the introduction video

I also am sadly experiencing this issue. I have tried so many changes in settings and the above solution of deleting temporary folder and many other steps and nothing seems to help.

I will also say, every time, if I keep trying to start the game, the third time it seems to break my steam? All of the windows just become grey backgrounds and I can't interact with anything until I force close and reopen it . Weird and hope for a fix soon =(

Anyone have progress with this? Same issue here, I tried checking its integrity and deleting the temporary folder, no luck.

Game crashes at loading screen (before the map) It puts me back to windows.  It worked on 17th - I guess, but no longer. I tried to sett V-sync off and graphics to low. Nothing worked. Sometimes i come in to the game but puts me out in few minutes.

Hey guys,

I solved OP issue today. I looked into my graphics card and processor drivers and found windows updates stopped updating the drivers a few years ago. After downloading the newest drivers for 5-6 outdated drivers and restarting I was finally able to load the scenario. good luck!

@ GliderGaming

Good for you! hope you enjoy the game :)

I also had a look at my drivers and made sure they're updated, to no effect. There are a few minor drivers that I left at older versions because I fail to see how my mouse driver or an IDE driver may cause the game to crash.

Furthermore I tried uninstalling the game, disabling anti-virus (Comodo), reinstalling the game and then launching the game, but the same thing happens. A bit into the loading screen the Unity messagebox appears briefly and the game crashes.

I was finally able to solve the issue today.

I installed the complete AMD Radeon "Adrenalin" software package direclty from the AMD website and was able to start the game (the driver update alone from Windows Update did not work)

I hope this helps.

Nice catch! Good for you. Hope you enjoy the game now :)

I did try the corresponding thing on the Nvidia end, installing the Geforce Experience and all fluff, but it did not help in my case.
Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait a few more months to play the game :(
