I shouldn't have played the OpenDev (because now I can't wait)

I'm not going to give in depth feedback as I think others already did a good job. I'm just here to share my thoughts. I wasn't able to play the first opendev, due to a lack of time.

The Lucy OpenDev wasn't perfect, there are things to tweak, features to improve and bugs to solve (the lags/freeze every few turns near the end forcing a restart were tough). Well of course there is, the game only comes out in 4 months if there is no delay. But oh boy I already know I'll spend hundreds of hours on this game like I did on every single 4X by Amplitude. To be honest I would already have spent too many hours on the Opendev if I had had the time, (un)fortunately I was only able to do one 150 turns playthrough. The game does an incredible job at making old fans feel like home while still being very different, I think it strikes a good balance between legacy and innovation. I'm glad I bought this game (Amplitude is probably the only studio I would trust to the point of pre-ordering), and playing the Opendev made it feel like money well spent.

I will probably be pretty bad at Humankind, just like the Endless games, but I know I will have so much fun. Trying hard against AI levels that would make others laugh, or just messing with mods, having fun cheating (solo of course), following guides to improve, or just tweaking the world settings to get interesting games. I tried and played Civilization games, and it's objectively great, but I didn't fall in love with it there was no special connection for me, so at first when I saw that Amplitude's next game was a bit of a Civilization like and wasn't set in the Endless universe I was a little bit worried but now that I got to try it I know I will love it. I don't know what this studio does to their games but there's something special.

So yeah I guess this message is a bit useless and awkwardly written (from France with love), but I know the coming months will be tough for the devs and it never hurts to give some positive feedback. What you showed us here is a preview of what will be an incredible game and it's a reminder of why I love your studio.

Keep up the good work

For what it's worth, I totally agree.

I've been trying to play a few other games and can't get into them right now, because the game I really wanna play is Humankind!
