Suggest to use another symbol for natural units other then the peace sign as that sign is very very recent design and thus hugely anacronistic and also because nature is peacefull :) Think on lions, sharks, but also "neutral" human settlements

Generally I dont think the style fits as well to the existing iconography of the UI: its way to modern and does not have a presence at all as a banner (too thin lines, no classical font characteristics to fit as a symbol). If they really want to go with the peace sign, it needs to be bold and stylized in my opinion so that it at least fits the style of the symbols and characters used in texts

The symbol itself like this is so new my grandmothers don't even know this (they both lived through WW2 and were on the non-hippie side of the wall :)

What can be used instead?
A classical symbol of peace or neutrality was the olive branch (also used in Latin and greek cultures in politics) which also allows for the use of green color which is another bonus as that is a color most commonly associated with nature:
