When warring with the Teutons I noticed their war support had been falling very slowly, even though I captured one of their cities quite a while ago. I hovered over their war support and noticed the rate it should be falling by turn was falling at half the speed it should. They were recieving +2 to their war support from me having a warrior badge and occupying a city. Steps to reproduce. Just making assumptions here but here goes:
Step 1: obtain warrior badge
Step 2: conquer enemy city

I would expect that the warrior badge would give me the bonus Beowulf is getting if someone were to capture one of my cities.
