Custom maps, either downloaded manually from mod.io and placed in Documents/Humankind/Maps, downloaded from mod.io in-game, or created in the map editor, are not displayed in relevant sections of the game menu. They're not in the maps list in the editor, and they're not displayed in a game lobby under "Custom maps" tab.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Create any new map using in-game map editor. Save it. Exit to desktop (probably it's not necessary)
1a. (optional) download any map from mod.io, e.g. https://humankind.mod.io/earth-huge-oscar-v31-10-players-egypt26z6Di9ABRnDVs. Save it into Documents/Humankind/Maps.
1b. (optional) install any map from mod.io ingame interface.
2. Launch Humankind.
3. Go to Extras > Community > Map Editor. Observe only one map available, with no name or metadata on it. It has 2 warning icons, red and yellow, without any tooltips hovering. If you open it for editing, a default template for Huge map will be loaded in the editor. It is always the same one, irrelevant to what custom maps you have in your Map folder or anywhere else.
4. Go to Main Menu > Play > New Game. Open "Custom maps" tab. Observe empty list.
5. Go to Main Menu > Extras > Community > Map Editor again. Observe 5 default templates are loaded, but no custom maps.
If you open Main Menu > Play > New Game > Custom Maps again, the result will be an empty list again.
Expected:
Custom maps are displayed alongside the default templates in map editor menu, and available for selection on new game.
The content of the test map you see in the Maps folder screenshot for reference:
P.S.: there appears to be some problem with attached media. Sharing these same media through OneDrive just in case: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AtkaEkidBt6Lldcr7Tu4v-lxkXuvNw?e=FJQVZo
Thank you for the report! I've been trying to reproduce the issue using the test map you provided as well as the one you linked, but so far I'm seeing custom maps correctly. Could you provide us with the following:
Your diagnostics log from a time you launched the game and saw the map files were missing:
This folder is hidden by default. You will need to reveal hidden folders (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files-0320fe58-0117-fd59-6851-9b7f9840fdb2 ) then navigate to: Users\[username]\AppData\LocalLow\AMPLITUDE Studios\Humankind
And finally, could you zip up your map folder and the community folder and send that as well?
The content of Temp files and Maps, as well as logs and Community folder has been put into "Temporary files and logs" folder on OneDrive. All 4 logs in Temporary Files are from sessions where the bug reproduced. Apparently 35 mb archive is too large to be attach to the forum post, and Community folder contains quite a bit of mods, so I had to use OneDrive for that. OneDrive folder should be accessible on https://1drv.ms/u/s!AtkaEkidBt6Lldcr7Tu4v-lxkXuvNw?e=FJQVZo
I attached the same folders except Community to the post in the archive.
No mods were explicitly enabled the last 3 times I launched as I remember.
Did the provided files helped? If that's impossible to reproduce, then is it possible to have a high-level list of all folders the game keeps its settings/temporary files in? Uninstalling the game and clearing game folders in PC:\Users\[username]\Documents\Humankind didn't resolve the issue, so maybe there are other folders I can try ro delete before reinstalling the game?
The issue was resolved on latest patch by clearing all AppData folders and reinstalling the game. Not sure why it didn't work previously. As usual, if hell knows what is the problem, the problem is in the cache :D
The problem has resurfaced. This time it started right after I accessed Mod.io from the game interface and one mod got updated. I can't get rid of it despite uninstalling all mods, all maps and deleting all temp or user data folders this time.
Also when I reinstall Humankind now, it pulls Steamworks Common Redistributables installation all of a sudden. Is that normal?
My gut feeling tells me it's something somewhere in the mod data cache on which game logic chokes, but I have no idea where Humankind stores all its temp data.
