Multiplayer not Loading

My game is refusing to load multiplayer games with one other person since the Oceania update came out. We have sat multiple times on half hour loading screens yet the game wont actually load past like a third of the way. Ive tested to see if it will start a multiplayer session with just me and it refuses to start still. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I really love this game and just got together we rule and dont want to have to refund the dlc for lack of the game functioning.
