I feel that by the time you reach the industrial era, the game feels monotonous, with no variety in tone. The music, I feel, is a big reason for this. For the last two eras, the music never changes, only playing the same songs that have been playing for the whole game minus the unique music based on culture. I think my enthusiasm for the later eras could match the investments I've made throughout the game if everything didn't sound the same.
Maybe the Industrial era could have some classical or romantic style pieces akin to Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, or Shubert; And the Contemporary era could receive some, well, contemporary music: rock and roll, jazz, or techno, or some music in the style of modern orchestrations like Copland, Shostakovich, or Stockhausen even.
This probably won't get implemented because music takes time to make and I'm sure the costs are also far more than to be expected, or at least what I would expect. But I need something in the late game to keep me interested and I wouldn't be surprised if I weren't alone. Sound is one of the main experiences, I'd argue, that drives our decision making processes, perhaps even more than sight. For these reasons, I think the game needs more music for the later eras.
