Further testing on my machine; turning off the Steam overlay and DirectWrite do not improve things. No combination of AMD Catalyst settings prevent crashes, either.

The workaround to set it to 32 bit does not seem to be possible for my Endless legend.

When i go to Properties of Endless legend in my library and go to 'Betas' i cannot opt into any betas and its asking for my beta access code (i bought it on steam 2 days ago).

Any idea how i can get my beta access code or how else to set it to 32 bit? these crashes every 15 min are starting to become VERY annoying.

You have to go into the properties for the game, from your Steam Library, not the Steam options. Then hit the betas tab, and select it in the dropdown. There is no code, it's open access, and if you don't have it you are looking in the wrong place somehow. Can you walk us through how you are trying to do it, exactly?

Just posted a new thread whinoing about the same issue with my R9 270X (latest Omega drivers) and Win 8.1 64 bit. game version is v 1.0.24 s3 64 bit. What a seriously buggy and broken game! going to try 32 bit version, but seriously doubt if this will help a rat's ass.

and that, is why we should 'try before we buy'.

UPDATE 29/12/14: Switched to 32 bit Endless Legend, no other changes, so far, pulled off two hours of gameplay going from turn 103 to turn 139-140. Hmm...seems to have worked. ? smiley: smile

Blessed is the Maker! Andraste's Ashes, it's good to be back.

Yes, I know. wrong franchise. Dust off.

I'll place my money on Unity (The Game Engine) for the CTD. Why I'd say that is in KSP (Kerbal Space Program) there also is CTD when running in 64bit and it also use Unity-Engine.

Happy new year guys Amplitude Studios.

And I still can not play because they do not solve the problems with ATI cards.

Thank You.

Hi,

the game crashes every few turns (I'd say in less than 10 rounds to crash in average), so several times a day, which is extremely annoying, otherwise pretty nice work.

Crash reports added, will try the 32bit version of game.

Best regards,

Choock

I'm still having trouble after trying all the possible solutions. I use a crossfire configuration and I either crash or I get blue screened after about 10 minutes.

I am trying to finish the tutorial, but I'm worried that I'm damaging my computer by getting it overheated every time I do. I have checked the temperatures of my gpu and they would steadily increase during play. I closed the game after it got above 80 degrees. I would love to play this game properly without it murdering my PC. Also would have loved to have a functioning game, since it's been released. I don't buy early-access to avoid these things..... Such an annoyance.

If these issues don't get fixed I'd like to ask a refund. I'm just scared of some actual damage done to my pc.

First of all, I love the game. With Endless Legend and Endless Space you've really kept my love of 4X games satisfied.

Although I've been able to make it over 150 turns without crashing, I, too, have experienced what everyone is talking about here. And once a game crashes it then continues to do so frequently. I'm running dual Radeon 5870s, so I switched to the 32bit version and the crashes have ceased. I've been able to finish a couple of games with no crashing.

Crash reports are attached.

Thanks again for a great game.

Hi guys

New to the forum, but plagued by similar crashes.

My issue is that when I play it can crash from turn 3 or turn 100. Very Irregular. The longer you try and play after restoring after crash the more frequently it crashes. The actual crash is to a black screen, not CTD. The crash is black screen some times with sound loop, sometimes not. I have a G15 keyboard and sometimes I can change the display on keyboard in crash making me thing that the PC is still running. There is no response from any other button. I cannot ALT+Tab out or Ctrl+Alt+del out either. The crash results in a fatal restart of PC by ending power supply. I tried some things that other forums suggested like underclocking my card, running the 32 bit version. None of the "fixes" have helped me. Here are the following things that you guys require.

The version of Endless legend is 1.0 24 S3 64bit.

I have redeemed my CD key as well.

I cannot get any crash reports as its a fatal crash. If someone has more info that would be great.

In some other games that have done this in the past, a reduction in graphics and V-sync have stopped the issue, but this doesn't work here.

Thank you for the support!

Six crashes since purchase a few days ago. Using an AMD Radeon R9 280. Crashes are an instant and sudden crash to desktop, and they happen after 5-30 turns after taking some random action. Once, it was clicking on the Marketplace tab. Another time it was clicking on a city, and the last time it was clicking on the Empire tab.

I will try the 32-bit client for now, but I hope this issue can be resolved soon.

Here are all of the crash folders + diagnostic entries + registry.xml for my profile (renamed to .txt):

Installed latest Mono Framework for Mac (v3.10.0) - but I don't see the shipped version (3.4.0) in the System Framework folder, though I see only what looks like maybe a simple wrapper library in the Endless Legend Steam installation folders so I'm not sure if Steam installed the shipped version in the System location or...?

In any case, it still crashed after I installed the newer Mono Framework. I have now switched to the 32-bit version in Steam and will see if that makes a difference. (DOH - it does still show as 32-bit even when not selected)

FIX THIS! smiley: sad Also give me 64-bit! :-(

I have seen a couple of other (gameplay) bugs as well, but will post those separately.

Hi all,

I am deeply sorry about the inconvenience. I have contacted AMD again to learn their progress. I think it is difficult for them because the crash is random and it takes some time to reproduce. As the game works perfectly in other configurations, I can only assume that it is an issue between Unity 64 bits and AMD drivers.

There is a new version of Unity coming up in the next weeks/months, version 5.0, and its editor runs natively in 64 bits, as opposed to 4.X where the editor is 32 bits and we make a special build in 64 bits. My hope is that when people equipped with AMD starts migrating on Unity 5 and have the editor crash every now and then, the problem will become more serious for Unity and AMD smiley: smile

Anyway I will update you when I have more news.

Cheers,

Thanks Amp for the response! I was going to ask about the 5.0 engine, as I knew it was releasing soon. Good to hear about it finally.

Thanks very much for the update on the AMD graphics issue. I am continuing to play with the 32 bit version and have had absolutely no issues with the game. I am loving this game.

In a different vein, my condolences to our French friends for the horrible terrorist violence of the past week. Je suis Charlie and vive la France!

Thank you so very much for your kind words suilebhan!

There is a huge quiet demonstration right now in Paris, with probably north of 1 million people, a few hundred yards from Amplitude Studios' office.

I have not yet attempted to use the 32-bit version. I've only been playing for a couple of days and just found that work-a-round when I came to post the dump data.

Since I do use an ATI card, this seemed to be the place to post the files. Although it sounds like its out of Amplitudes hands for now, I still have attached the files.

Other than the crashes the game has been fun, keep up the excellent work.
