New error message again today when trying to generate the world. Overlayed on top of old error message again.

Here is the message:

Amplitude.Unity.Game.GameManager.OnCreateGameComplete (Amplitude.Unity.Game.CreateGameCompleteEventArgs e)

Amplitude.Coroutine+c__Iterator94.MoveNext ()

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

V1.0.2 S3 (64-bit)

Hope it helps.

Hello,

I have also been having problems with world generation in Endless Legend. I have attached a compressed file containing the diagnostic and output files requested.

EL_Diagnostics_and_Output.rar

Hope this helps you fix this problem. This game was awesome back in alpha, no doubt it will be much better now once I can actually play the game. I really want to try the Drakkens!! smiley: biggrin

Night Angel

PS: Below are screenshots of the error messages I am getting.

Hello, Saylawl,

I have a problem related to this workaround:

" •Unchecking "Read Only" on your EndlessLegend/Public/WorldGenerator folder and apply to the subfolders."

I unchecked the "Read Only" option of the EndlessLegend/Public/WorldGenerator folder, applied this change to the subfolders, and clicked the "Apply" button to finalize this change . However, when I re-opened the "Properties" window of the WorldGenerator folder to make sure that the change was successful, I found that the "Read Only" option was *still checked*. It seems that this folder's "Read Only" option can't be unchecked at all.

FYI, I'm using Windows 8.1. Maybe this issue is OS related?

Thanks a lot for for you kind assistance.

PS: I turned off my AV already but the crash still happened. So, I think the AV workaround doesn't work in my case.

Hello,

Here's yet another attempt at fixing the issue:

Download the archive Amplitude.WorldGenerator.exe.manifest.zip, uncompress and place the file "Amplitude.WorldGenerator.exe.manifest" inside the folder "... Steam/SteamApps/common/Endless Legend/Public/WorldGenerator".

Hello Saylawl,

Yes, I was (still am) using the Admin account on my PC when I tried to uncheck the "Read Only" option of the WorldGenerator folder. In fact, I also tried to uncheck the "Read Only" Options of the Endless Legend and the Public folders, but all my attempts failed as well.

Thanks a lot for your help again.

It's quite weird. I have no idea how to resolve that.

Did you also try this? It might help you but we have no feedback on this workaround.

Hello Saylawl and Eric,

First of all, thanks a lot for all your prompt assistance.

I uncompressed the file provided by Eric and put the Amplitude.WorldGenerator.exe.manifest file (Manifest format, 385 bytes) into the WorldGenerator folder. I tried to uncheck the "Read Only" option of the WorldGenerator folder again but my attempt failed. Then I launched the game in admin mode (with compatibility mode set for Windows 7 and my AV turned off), but the crash at world generation still happened. I couldn't start any tutorial or new game at all.

Another interesting fact I just found out: although I'm unable to uncheck the "Read Only" option of the WorldGenerator folder (and other EL folders as well), I can successfully check or uncheck the "Read Only" options of individual files within the EL folder (e.g., the EndlessLegend exe file). I hope this information can help resolve my issue.

Thanks again for your kind assistance!

Update: I run the 32-bit version of the game in admin mode (with compatibility mode set for Windows 7 and my AV turned off), but the crash still occurred. The manifest file provided by Eric was still in the WorldGenerator folder.

Hi again, Saylawl and Eric,

To help your technical team resolve this annoying crash, I just sent 4 diagnostics files (html format), an output log file and a registry file to contact@amplitude-studios.com (because this forum doesn't allow me to upload those diagnostics files). I hope these updated information can help you guys analyze the issue and reproduce the bug more effectively. The diagnostics files contain information on both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the game.

Thanks again for your kind attention and good luck with the game debugging.

I have tried the new work around in conjunction with all of the old work arounds. The game is still getting hung up on connecting to server.

Just a thought before you continue banging your heads against the wall...

Have you checked to see if the various pirate releases no doubt shivering timbers across the net by now are not being detected as viruses by AV programs and tagged read only, say, because they contain virii?

Or because an arrrr installer is not genuine, smart AV programs tagging its files RO by default regardless of explicit detection?

Not accusing anyone here, just a friendly question from an old IT/QA sawbones.

-edit-

Wouldn't be the first time. Neither would it be the first time if a release team member with a genuine steam verified purchases forward on bug reports from their release thread. If there's a case of one or two verified purchases reporting the error, and a larger body of unverified/unverifiable users joining in.

I have also tried putting the Amplitude. WorldGenerator.exe.manifest file in the world generation folder to no effect.

and no hattrick, this is not a bunch of pirates trying to scam the system to get the game for free, this is people who bought a released game wondering why it isn't working and when it will.

That was more directed toward the dev team as a big fat square to check off, of the obvious variety that can be almost impossible to spot with a public clamor and frenzy of testing, after grueling weeks of unpaid overtime.

If I wanted to call a user out being a pirate, I would say something along the lines of, "I think you are a pirate, username(s)." instead of "not accusing anyone here." Easy to get the two confused though.

I understand your point of view however, knowing that I did buy it and this having this issue, if the devs did, for some reason, think that that was the case, and therefore did not fix the bug, I would have to return the game which I am not very keen on. So perhaps you can understand why I am stating that this is not the case so vocally. I do understand the concern, however, it is not the case here.

Personally, I'm hoping that it is a legitimacy issue, as I do not want to buy a game on steam when there's a potential gamebreaker like this, because last time I tried to return something through Steam they were quite unpleasant about it. That's the selfish reason for wanting the matter addressed by the devs smiley: smile

I've installed this game on my win7 computer. I can play the tutorial but nothing else. I start a new game and constantly get the world generator failure message below

NotImplementedException: The game creation process has failed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GameClientState_LaunchGame.GameService_CreateGameComplete (System.Object sender, Amplitude.Unity.Game.CreateGameCompleteEventArgs e)

Amplitude.Unity.Game.GameManager.OnCreateGameComplete (Amplitude.Unity.Game.CreateGameCompleteEventArgs e)

Amplitude.Unity.Game.GameManager.CreateGameAsync_CoroutineExceptionHandler (System.Object sender, Amplitude.CoroutineExceptionEventArgs args)

Amplitude.Coroutine+c__Iterator94.MoveNext ()

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

V1.0.2 S3 (32-bit)

I've tried both 64bit and 32bit. It makes no difference other than the version line.

I've tried it on my new MS Surface Pro 3 and it craps out at the splash screen simply saying it has caused an error and windows is shutting th process down. I dont even get to see the amplitude-studios logo.

very unhappy about this poor quality product. It looks like it would be a great game if I could only get it to work.

Hello,

Here're some things for you guys:

@All disgruntled users

I understand your frustration, but we cannot fix problems without any kind of information.

Please follow the instructions from this post (Reporting-An-Issue) to share - at the very least - the output_log.txt file along with all available Diagnostics (html) files.

@OSX users

Some users managed to get things working by manually installing/upgrading the Mono Framework on their computer (it’s the thing that executes .Net programs on OSX systems).

Here’s the procedure :

- In the Steam client, in the game libraries tab, right-click (or MAC equivalent) on “Endless Legend” to open the game Properties,

- Click on the “Local Files” tab,

- Select “Browse local files”,

- In the Finder window you should see some files related to the “Endless Legend” game, somewhere under “Libraries/Application Support/Endless Legend” or something.

- The folder should contain a package file “MonoFramework-MRE-3.4.0.macos10.xamarin.x86.pkg” (this package – or more recent version – is required to execute Windows .Net executables on OSX)

- Install the package

@All users

For those who have not done so already :

Download the archive Amplitude.WorldGenerator.exe.manifest.zip, uncompress and place the file "Amplitude.WorldGenerator.exe.manifest" inside the folder "... Steam/SteamApps/common/Endless Legend/Public/WorldGenerator".

@All users

Download the archive EndlessLegend.exe.manifest.zip, uncompress and place the file "EndlessLegend.exe.manifest" inside the folder "... Steam/SteamApps/common/Endless Legend" alongside the game executable.

@All users

Some of you have mentioned that the world generation did work during early access and stopped working since release.

Well, we have changed the version of the .Net Framework for the release, it’s definitely a cause of concern.

There are two things you can try :

(either of the two solutions might help fixing your issue(s) so don't try both at the same time or else we won't know which one might do)

1) Install the .Net Framework 3.5.1 on your computer,

(download from Microsoft at http://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/downl...ils.aspx?id=22)

2) Download the archive WorldGenerator.zip, uncompress and overwrite all the files in the folder " … Stem/SteamApps/common/Endless Legend/Public/WorldGenerator".

These are new assemblies compiled with the .Net Framework 4.0.

I hope we'll get there eventually.

Keep us informed on your progress, whether it worked (and which operation did fix your problem) or if you're still out of the game...
