probably the winter effects will be for everyone and the more you invest in a certain effect to happen or not to happen they will or will not appear, think of the world council in civ 5 but without knowing who invested in what.

I don't suppose anyone can answer whether modifying the winters with the pearls changes the winter for everyone or only for the faction that does it? ;D

None of you guys opened a thread to discuss the new faction and expansion, so here I am doing it for you. smiley: stickouttongue

Below is a simple copy-paste of our announcement post.

The Allayi

Meet the Allayi, a brand new faction that is coming in Endless Legend's next content pack: the Shifters. They will be able to shift during winters. All factions will also be able to collect a new resource called the "Pearls of Auriga", enabling them to unlock new powers through the "Altar of Auriga" and modify the upcoming winters' impacts.

Our VIP players are already testing it before everyone, but there's still some work to do before you can all get your hands on it. As usual, we'll reveal more info as we get closer to the release.

We're hoping to release "Shifters" in April 2016.

Now, speculate away! smiley: smile

Heh... that's what I called them as well.

Not commenting on your other suggestions, you'll see soon enough when the GDD is made public. smiley: biggrin

Can't wait =)

My hopes are that each unit are so different between its winter and summer mode that it is a noticeable factor.

I'm thinking something like this for the units:

T1 Cavalry

-> Winter form: decreased mobility, but increased bulk and defense. Strong buff to defense.

-> Summer form: Increased mobility and attack power, but less defense. Solid buff to speed, minor buff to damage.

T2 Support

-> Winter form: Weak ranged attack that leeches life of the target, and heals all adjacent allies. Alternatively debuffs target and applies debuff to all adjacent enemies.

-> Summer form: Average ranged attack with a targeted heal ability.

T3 Flyer

-> Don't know yet =D

I'd like to see huge game changer like the units type changing per season (cavalry becoming infantry during winter for example), but I imagine that is too much work, if at all technically doable.

Auriga affinity seems to be some racial trait that will give the unit a bonus or penalty depending on how Auriga is doing. Not sure what sort of game changing empire mechanics they could possibly do at this point, but I hope they are very different =3 I'm guessing they might have unprecedented control of the seasons perhaps? Possibly control over the winters and when they trigger and how harsh they are?

I was hoping to see unique weapon tech for the factions, but I'm guessing that's unlikely. Would have been cool too see factions having a weapon or armor tech that would be specific to them though. Samurai swords for these guys (cus, concept art looks cool XD), shield and spear combo for the broken, maybe a powersuit for the vaulters, etc. More to make the factions units even more varied basically - though I guess this would be hard to implement at this point =3 or balance for that matter.

Then if I may suggest something, I'd say go for ES2 so you can give us valuable feedback on it as early as possible. We know Endless Legend is in a rather good spot and are polishing it up, but when Space 2 comes to Early Access it'll be a diamond in the rough!

Thanks.

difficult decision Early access on ES2 vs Shifters. As said I'll end up with bothm but don't know what to buy first, as I don't want both in the same time (not enough time to play smiley: frown )

I'm glad to see that the development of Endless Legend is alive and this expansion looks good, the faction looks great but for me the most interesting are the new mechanics, hopefully soon we will see more information about them.
