Only an adult would ever say that here in the US.

I actually agree with their decision to make peace treaties have to be researched however, diplomacy is seriously lacking, factions seem to lack any sort of personality. Shouldnt the necrophage be aggressive and roving clans be very economical in their relations with you? All I ever get is I try to make friends, sign treaties and make deals, then randomly they give me a warning for no discernible reason that seems to lack any actual affect. Or I attack and no real interactions come after that except battles.

A solution that I was thinking about that could help alleviate the dullness of encountering factions for the first time would be to use the still from the selection screen and animate it similar to how the trailer and factions videos are animated. It's a still but appears as if it's moving, even slight movement with a faction quote would add a little bit more immersion and go a long way.

I honestly really think it's a cool effect and would be unique to the game. Also definitely remove the "AI#" in each of the AI faction names, it's not necessary to know what number faction they are since they are all color coded. I hope it's only a temporary EA testing thing and will be removed later.

It would also be fun to maybe hold an event for faction quotes to help you guys out and take a little stress off of your work load, at the same time pleasing the community. We are all very creative and I can see lots of promise from holding such an event.

Frankly, if I could figure out how the whole {0} and {1} coding in the localization files works, I'd try my hand at writing something like this myself.

I'm still terribly concerned about their release plans. I don't think it will do them any favors. Giving the community a few months to test (and polish) the finished product would, but they of course have to keep in mind a variety of factors.

As much as we go on about how much we'd love to see animations, I'm sure most of us would be satisfied with simple text changes that help convey the lore. Not being a programmer, I can not be certain how much work that would be, but I feel like it should not be too difficult to implement with the system already in place to read which faction you have encountered. For that matter, giving the enemy names other than "AI#1" would also add a great deal of flavor and immersion.

This ! At it's current state Endless Legend lacks depth smiley: frown Depth provides immersion, the thing that causes you to play for hours without wanting to stop. The seemingly "small" details and features make a video game GREAT, Endless Legend just has to offer more ! Or it will be just another 4X game which will fall into the shade of Civ, because of lack of options, features and "repetitive feel".

The early release will play a trick on Amplitude, the game has quite a few flaws at it's current stage. I really hope they won't rush things. smiley: warning

Immersion is missing, like in ES, If its not resolved, I will feel like having paid 30 euros for nothing, I cant play a non-immersive game and fight AI#1 by hundred ^^

Hello everyone, of course that we are reading your posts. smiley: smile

With the release getting closer and closer everyday, we unfortunately have production constraints: this means that our list of priorities has already been defined (check out Mathieu's blog post HERE).

However, keep on posting suggestions: we will continue the support of the game even after the release, just like we did with Endless Space.

I'm sure they are very busy at the moment. They simply don't have the time to read and review all the topics here.

Cheers

I really think this is something you missed with Endless Space and it's missing with Endless Legend, too.

When I encounter another faction, all I get is a pop-up that says "You've Encountered the Roving Clans".

More needs to happen. Let's take, for example, Civilization 1-5. When you meet a new nation for the first time, a screen pops up, the new nation says a little something like "We look forward to our continued business together" and then, each time diplomacy is initiated, some flavor text is displayed with their requests, etc.

Nearly every worthwhile 4X game has something like this and it is sorely missing from EL. You've already done a pretty good job of creating a soul that wasn't there with ES, but things like this go a long way towards creating a living, breathing world.

I can just imagine the Necrophages, when met for the first time, appearing on screen (preferably animated) and saying something like "It is only a matter of time before your bodies become another soldier in our armies. Speak with what breath you have left..."

This game truly need to be immersive as much as it can be, the potential is limitless !

We need that custom sentence for each factions smiley: biggrin

It pretty much is the default screen but you also have the option to select the faction from a drop down bar. Perhaps if they highlighted the faction select button to encourage people to use that instead of the drop bar. TBH I didn't even know there was a detailed faction selection screen until I watched one of Panczasu's youtube videos, it's not very noticable.

Yeah I really like this idea. I also thought it would be cool if maybe when you first pick a faction that they would say something. That would add a bit of personality and get you in the mood to play that faction a little bit more.

This would add so much to the game, even if they forgo any animations.

Simply adding faction-specific text to the popup would go a long way.

Yeah, even if it's just an animation still with flavor text.

They shouldn't underestimate its impact of immersion!
