Hotseat?

Hotseat helps makes these games a lot more social, for me at least.

The issue I would have thought is that the AI is being developed for simultaneous turns and so how to adapt that for classic turns could be intensive.

Many other 4X games have this feature but then again, many have underdeveloped AI, so I reckon Amplitude are in the best position to call this smiley: smile

Hotseat would be nice to see. Can someone explain why it would be complicated to implement? With (online) multiplayer even though it is "simultaneous" it still has to wait for everyones turn orders to come in to process a turn. If one player was to wait for another player to finish the system would still work...Why would hotseat be any different than a player waiting for another player to click End Turn?

Hotseat is something I've been asking the devs to implement for a while now ^_^ I don't remember if I ever got an answer to that but even if they do implement it one day, it's still a long way ahead of us. I imagine hotseat being a very low priority task which also requires a lot of work to be put into it.

Well, EL (unlike ES) was built around the idea of baing able to play it in multiplayer. That is, multiplayer with simultaneous turns. So I imagine that allowing hotseat with standard turns would require a lot of time and resources, something Amplitude may not be willing to spend.

I would love it if they did. But I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

Not so much. It mostly depends on whether they are keeping the same system as Endless Space(where it is not really possible) or changing the way multiplayer works. If they do change it, then it is likely easier to implement hotseat than the standard online multiplayer modes.



In general, hotseat is the simplest multiplayer available and I am assuming there will be multiplayer available.

I think it really depends on how much time and resources amplitude is willing to spend on extras such as this rather than on game play, story, or other more popular features.
