There are some inaccuracies in your article. Allow me to correct them:

Explo/colonization:

Colonization now works completely differently in that you need to not only settle a planet, but also invest resources heavily to claim it altogether. Other factions can settle your newly-established system until it becomes a fully-fledged colony. Exploration works pretty differently, since basically with new eras you'll unlock new exploration options, and be able to access nodes that were previously invisible to you: https://www.games2gether.com/endless-space-2/forum/65-general/thread/18858-es2-gdd-3-galaxy-exploration

Production: the "overexploitation mechanic" you mention is a Cravers-only mechanic, which existed in Endless Space 1 already, although slightly differently.

Quests are mostly a new thing in ES2 compared to the first. We're expanding on Endless Legend's system, with overarching quest arcs that will help shape end game.

Browsing through your article, these are the points where you made obvious mistakes, there may be more minor ones but nothing jumped out.

I really enjoyed the speculation over the last few days!  

ATM this is the only article that highlights ES2 at this year's Gamescom. The text isn't very interesting (google translate may help you), but actual screenshots are the juicy part :)

Of course, the idea about the faces breaks apart with the square symbol on the other unannounced faction. Unless, perhaps, it is the robotic face of a Sower.
