I don't mean to be insulting with this suggestion because it's a long shot. However, I used to work on a Help Desk, and sometimes this was the issue...

How often do you restart or turn off your computer? If the answer is rarely, that could be the problem. A restart let's the computer regain its resources and memory that slowly get eaten away over time.

Assuming you do turn off or restart your computer every few days, please ignore this post!

It gets turned off daily so that shouldn't be an issue, but i appreciate the lateral thinking.

It's a new system with a dozen games installed and some tunes. I just use it for gaming so it's relatively clean and clear - 800gb spare in 2nd drive etc.

I try not to install extra programmes that might cause any kind of conflict, hence my paranoia, which is why I'm so surprised that:

A. ES causes CTD after a manual battle (so that's UPON returning to the campaign map)

and B. that there isn't an obvious cause of the problem or an easy remedy.

I got right let down by Rome 2, sulked a lot, then bought ES, which I like enough to get the expansion if only I could find a ******* solution to my problem smiley: cry

I'll start a new thread where we can post our test results. Hopefully, we can pool our resources and come up with a workaround.

Some guy using big ships almost survived my onslaught. He outteched me to a point where I could barely do 10% of his ships in damage on his main fleet, and lost all ships in process. However, he could only fight one of my fleets a turn (This is the real weakness), so I bogged it down in a system with over 100 cheap ships while i sent rest to conquer all his other systems. In all I think next time I should change my firing pattern and focus on a single ship rather than spreading fire. I'll see how that works.

I'm playing it and have no significant complaints so far.. ships are not useless especially not in the late game.

However I would like to hear about Endless space 2 smiley: biggrin

The A.I empires do not know how to use troop ships.Makes the game pretty easy to blitz them while they are stuck on your fortified world you can upgrade on the fly.

I just got the game (Gold edition) and am on my first "normal" Disharmony game. I've only played Disharmony and am still new to ES. Even so, I'll put my vote in for "IT ROCKS", as said above.

So, there's an Endless Space 2 coming out? I'm very interested. smiley: smile

Not any time soon. They're working on two other games right now: Dungeon of the Endless and Endless Legend. It'll be a long time before we see a sequel.

Haha. I guess I took it hook, line and sinker. It's just as well though. The game will be wasting a lot of hours as it is. The wife is so pleased. smiley: stickouttongue

IMO it's completely worth the price if it's on steam sale (it was $5 recently). There are many upgrades and many changes such that the game really does feel different. I think it's worth it even at full price as long as you have friends to play with.

i personally think disharmony is good to buy even if you are just playing single player. it gives a lot more purpose to the giant ships than there was previously. especially giant ships crammed with invasion modules. by mid to late game as harmony i once had around 20000-30000 invasion points.

In vanilla I used to use Lasers all the time. Now I use long range kinetics all the time....

EDIT: Also, dreadnoughts seem a lot more powerful now.... I guess it's a hull weakness thing.

In vanilla i used all 3 weapon times now almost only Kinetics execpt for the early game. (imo there was more variability in the Vanilla in terms of weapons as it is yet depsite those long, middle, shortrange thing)

Dreadnoughts imo are even more useless in Disharmony imo cause of the % based Tonnage useage many modules does now apply.

Its still worth the money and the improvments in other sections are great.

i like my dreadnaughs to be fully outfitted. that means the science and military tech trees completed with so much tonnage. i put on a lot of flak because people keep trying to kill them with missiles. the rest is some bombers, fighters, and long range beams with some melee kinetics. add quite a few command points and a level 20+ hero and its almost unstoppable.

I like the Harmoney's affliation, I chose it and use the human looking ships, i enjoy the idea of not having to worry about happyness and only have to worrie about disharmony from dust but once you get rid of that problem your set, also if any one that is not harmony takes your planet that you purified it becomes useless for anything but food, sciance or production as all dust is converted into them instead of being used.

the only problem i have with harmony is that they have to choose either food or science at the beginning and those first turns are always hard for me. also the trait hellgourds is a negative anomaly trait (-2) that gives more food at a cost of -30 approval. for harmony it is really good, and quite overpowered for custom races. just my thoughts.

Actually that anomaly is blocked by harmony affinity. You could still possibly get it from unlucky colonists... but not confirmed.

according to wiki:

Unlucky Colonists selects a random anomaly from the following list: Hostile Fauna, Swamp World, Seismic Activity, Long Season, Meteor Strikes, High Gravity.

Thus far most don't hurt for Harmony, mostly because they don't care about smiley: approval.

Hostile Fauna: -smiley: approval

Swamp World: -smiley: approval,+smiley: food,-smiley: industry

Seismic Activity: -smiley: approval,-smiley: dust,+smiley: science

Long Season: -smiley: approval,-smiley: food,-smiley: dust

Meteor Strikes: -smiley: approval,+smiley: industry,-smiley: science

High gravity: -smiley: approval,-pop

Long Season and High gravity are only ones actually bad, and not much

I say Swamp, Seismic and Meteors are actually good, even before you can fix them.
