Hi guys,

Just wondering if the dev team is considering building the game for Linux. I know Steam is coming to Linux in 2013 and I'd just like to be able to play Endless Space on my laptop running Ubuntu. Please consider the possibility.

They should definitely try to make a linux version, if not atleast try to make it work well with wine.

I've also got Ubuntu 12.04 but I can't get it to work, i get a popup with "GetThreadContext failed" when I try to start it, even with wine 1.5.

same problem, but I have not tried with wine 1.5 yet

"GetThreadContext failed" is linked to ptrace_scope setting. Set it to 0 according to Truga's inctructions.

I'm playing ES on Ubuntu 12.04 in windowed mode, having full access to all my desktop features. I was having some problems with Unity (all windows from all virtual desktops would get squashed into one upon game start) but I'm having none with Gnome 3. The only thing that seems like a bit of a bother is ignored mouse wheel, still the game provides other means to access all the content, so I'm not feeling crippled.

Unity3d 4.0 will be able to build for Linux too, so in future, if they are interested they may release a linux build too.

The game runs and works in Wine very well. The only problem is mouse scrolling. It just does not work. smiley: wink I think if someone from developers team will fix this little issue, the game will receive 'Platinum' rating on Wine's AppDB.

Anyway, +1 for Linux version. I've already bought it and play in wine, but native version is very welcome!

No - as already explained earlier, Unity isn't Linux compatible yet - and Amplitude would have to rewrite a good chunk of code (which might not be worth the development time contra possible profits). The only thing that will happen once the Linux version of steam is out is that Valve will possibly convert a few of their own games - and allow for other developers to sell their linux products through Steam.
