Making a pause in Raymond Feist's Riftwar Cycle series, currently reading Fall of Giants from Ken Follett

I loved his epic medieval series "Pilliars of the earth". But this new one is on the world war two ?

And I'm currently reading the fourth book of Game of Thrones.

I read a lot of non-fiction, especially histories of empires/civilisations.

I'm currently reading "The wars of Afghanistan" (current events/geopolitics) but I'm also a sucker for any decent sci-fi lie the original dune novels or "First and last men" (Olaf Stapleton).

It's nice to meet some like minded book enthusiasts!

Brilliant, people who actually read good books :-)

Currently I'm about to finish Murakami's Hard Boiled Wonderland. Split between finally reading George R.R. Martin's A Dance With Dragons (bought it on the day it was released, somehow not read it yet) or going for 1Q84 when I'm done.

Of more academic stuff I'm reading Jonaton Porritt's Seeing Green (3rd time, always get waylaid while reading it and decide to read from the beginning when I get back to it being as I quite like his style), 3 reports on Danish, Norwegian and Faroese security and this most wonderful book on the European Union and its institutions. Particularly enjoy falling asleep while reading about the Court of Justice, or getting shocked by discovering that some of the stuff actually is interesting, however unbelievable that sounds.

Vance is great, Lyonnesse is also a great cycle from him.

Also, nobody mentioned him ... Peter Rothfuss.... The name of the wind is awesome.

I second that. Asimov is a great author, but his stories aren't as well thought out as those of Herbert for instance.

Vance is good too : The cycle of Tchaï is really epic.

EVE - Templar One, I tend to avoid these kind of books (sydicated video games books).

Just started it a few days ago but so far so good, quite convoluted but interesting as it plays out...

Am about to start reading Hornblower and the Hotspur, the last book (that Forester wrote) in the excellent Horatio Hornblower series. I can't believe I only started reading these a few months ago for the first time; I should've gotten into them years ago!

About Vorkosigan saga.... the next book in the series comes out in november : Captain Vorpatril's alliance. In the time frame, it ought to be between Diplomatic Immunity and Cryoburn. And it features "Ivan, you idiot!" of course, hence the title. Provisional title of the book was "Ivan, his book!"

Currently reading Peter F. Hamilton's The Night's Dawn's last book. And right after that one, i'll still have the last book of the Greg Mandel's trilogy (from the same author) to read. And after that one, the last of Robert Morgan's Kovacs book, Woken Furies.

From this, you can guess that i'm a sci-fi guy.

(and after that i'll have to read A Song of Ice and Fire, from book 2, since i've already red "a Game of Thrones", so i sometime check what's happening in fantasy's world smiley: biggrin )
