I've been reading C.S. Forester's Horatio Hornblower series for the first time, although I've taken a break in between books to (re)read Presumed Innocent by Scott Turow.

Hi fellow readers.

Not a huge expert on scifi books myself (beyond some classic Bradbury, Asimov, and other van Vogt classics).

I stumbled upon a very good one which I'm still reading: Leviathan Wakes

I see many of you have been seduced by Grrm's Ice and Fire books. Maybe you'll find interesting to know that Leviathan Wakes has been written by George RR Martin's own trusted assistant Ty Frank (half of it anyway)

Martin quote on the book's frontpage sums it all: "It's been too long since we've had a really kickass space opera".

My problem with Feist is that he has to offer permanently a different bigger menace which kinda tends to get tiring in the long run, as it sounds artificial.

I said other work didnt I?

And yes you are right that can be tiring, but I really like when they change ppl they focus on. Pug the almighty is turning somewhat dull.. why he cant just let the character go and introduce new ones is beyond me...

I'm a big fun of Raymond E. Feist saga, Currently reading through an epic amounts of stories and books from Larry Niven and his The Known Space saga along with all the offspring. When I read that Universe story of this game I could not help but to notice some similarities smiley: smile.

Aye, the Free library is awesome, as well as the free-CDs you usually get when buying hardcovers. :-)

A big +1 on Baen's free library -- you can keep yourself in excellent SF for months with those titles. http://www.baen.com/library/

And they have a lot of the authors that we've been mentioning on this thread.

Oh yeah, ebooks are great. Packed a few CDs of Baen's free library on my iphone so I have almost always something to read even without a book in hand.

yeah reading on iPad made me revisit the entire classic Sci Fi pack...

Countless fantastic Space Opera rereads there. The Foundation Series was fun to see still has staying power. Amazing how having so many books available on phone and iPad allows you to consume them in your spare time between things. Game of Thrones was an entertaining read... makes me more interested in the show progress... etc
