What gfx engine does ES use? Anyway the game looks fantastic. The battles look great, though I hope they allow some sort of camera control during the fighting.

It was defaulted to simple graphics when installed on my laptop, but I could easily ratchet it up to beautiful with no obvious suffering on my laptops part, it seems really well optimised too. I love seeing a fleet gliding towards a planet and then opening up a massive broadside of lasers!

For an Alpha Version Realy realy Good and beautifull. 9 points out of 10 .. Only thing which can be a bit better are the Explosions.

Love the art style (even the UE ships that some people seem to have problems with). UI is clean, pleasent to look at and very functional. Some more detail and "oomph" to explosions, maybe proper beam weapons and I have no complaints. 9 out of 10 as I don't believe in perfection.

For an Alpha it suprises me its so playable already however there are lots of things that I'd like to see added still.

I'd say, the main problem is mostly the fact that there's no battle camera control. THere's so many times I wanted to zoom out to observe all the ships as I tore the enemy fleet an asshole.

This game is incredible !!! I've had no crashes or other problems, hard to believe that a Alpha release can be this good. Nice details like planets revolving with with there moon, can see city lights & space ships moving around the planet. There has been a lot of time & effort on all the little / small thing as well as the big main items too. keep running into things that amaze me or just plain make me laugh & say that's coool : )

I gave it a 9/10

For an alpha? Fantastic. And it has one of the best UIs I've had the pleasure of seeing. Its all very manageable and clean which is a must for a 4x game.

And I like the art direction of the ships so really? No complaints at all. Looking good and will probably look better as time goes on!

Overall the game looks pretty good, I always prefer depth to polish... that said, the set battle camera gets annoying after a few battles

I guess this is a good spot to complain. My only complaint with the battles (asides from cameras going inside ships) is that before ships explode sometimes, they start to sink. That shouldn't happen, they're in space. If they were being pulled toward a nearby planet or something, yeah. Not just tipping downwards sharply then boom.

Ah, I see now you were talking tactical graphics. I rated for the strategic layer and interface. Cant' say much about the tactical layer since I never play tactical...it goes by too fast and furious for my taste the way its set up now, so I auto-resolve everything.

The main screen is ok, not particularly impressive. The galaxy itself and the planets are all nice, but everything else is a little outdated, including the interface, and there really isn't that much visual content beyond that, outside of combat. There are no animations for anything beyond moving ships around and mousing over planets, which is a bummer, although I don't know if this will change or not (the diplomacy screen leaves a lot to be desired).

The combat looks decent. Again, there isn't much in terms of variety. Everything is pretty much universal, same lasers and explosions and animations for everything. It's only the alpha, but the camera angles during combat often screw up so you get a lovely view of the back of a spaceship for half a battle. I imagine that will be fixed, though.

Overall the graphics are like a less detailed Sins of a Solar Empire, so they are a tad outdated. Some of the ships look nice, others not so much. However, it is still Alpha, so we'll see how much gets added before release.

If you're looking for eye-candy, I don't think this will be your game, tbh. It's more of legacy game for Master of Orion and 4x (in general) enthusiasts. There just isn't much in terms of graphical content yet, and I don't see that massive of an overhaul occurring in a few months. Similarly, the artwork is mediocre, nothing to write home about so far (hasn't made me go "wow" yet).

I honestly don't know what game the people who rated this over a 7, in terms of graphical quality, are playing. I can only imagine that they haven't bought a new game since the disaster that was MoO3.

They could be sent off course because 1 of N engines had been destroyed and therefore thrust was unequal, I guess. Also being hit by missiles could theoretically change the orientation of a ship.

Sure, but the missilies always hit from the side. They should rather tilt sidewards, too.

That the ships think is probably implemented, because it looks cool. ^^

Gave it a 8/10 so far. It's a gem in the works which will probably get +1 from me when it's done. It looks pretty and a sleek design feel to it. There is of course room for improvements but for an alpha version it's immensely well done so far.

I'd go for a 8/10. If there wasn't an "Alpha" written in the version of the game I wouldn't have guessed it, the game is more stable than other released games (not necessarily 4x games :rolleyes
