Is Level 20 Maximum Hero Level?

Anyone who wants to train a hero really fast should try this. Take a well-developed system with high production. Assign to it the hero you want to train. (This trick works for combat heroes too!) Now change all the planet's exploitations.

Each exploitation takes 60 production to change. With a sufficiently developed system, you can change all of them, every turn. If that system has six planets, that's six constructions per turn at no additional cost to you. This equals 18 experience per turn, more if you have the techs that increase the training rate. Even at high levels, this means getting a level every few turns.

More than 3 heroes? Yes, just research the right techs (can't recall them off the top of my head). If you are asking more than 3 max level heroes, then I would assume we can have as many max level heroes as we can have heroes.

For those that care, someone has completed a list of hero abilities in ES wiki, click here. I will also update my original post to reflect this URL.

You can increase maximum number of heroes by researching "Imaginary Game Theory" and "Permanent Advantage" on the "Diplomacy and Trading" tree (west tree). This increases academy cap by +3 and +4, respectively for a total of 10 heroes. These tech names are for Sophon, and I am uncertain if the names are the same for other factions.

I'd like to be able to "request" elements of the Hero - it can be really frustrating waiting turns and turns and turns for a Commander.

I have often have multiple items complete on one turn without needing to use buy-out. Of course, I have never had a system with enough 'gears' to pump out more than one DN in one turn.

Oh an excellent exploit on post #13

I don't think increasing the production costs is the answer, it is supposed to be easy early on. Perhaps make the parhaps making the explitation cost a % of production in the system, say, 100%, and you would only be able to turn out 1 per round. Of course, the obvious answer is not allowing overflow; that only 1 item can be produced at a time. But I am not a fan of that, as I like creating whole dreadnaught fleets in 1 turn with my major shipyard system.

I also think fleet commanders level to fast. I just got a new slot in the academy, hired a hero, killed two cruisers with him and instantly went to level 4. Now he is level 15 after 12 turns or so...

I routinely hit 20, but I play long games on huge maps with 8 AI, thus there is plenty of opportunity. I would argue for more heroes (academy cap) and no level caps. Level caps, to me, are arbitrary in any game.

With this in mind, I think it'd be really useful to be able to know what you can get out of your heroes. If their perk tree could be displayed (and greyed out or something) it might help with planning upgrade paths. I do quite enjoy exploring the trees, but it might be useful if the perks change or for new players.

1) Is Level 20 Maximum Hero Level? There are so many more abilities I wanted to put on him but no more xp gain.smiley: frown

2) If this is the cap for hero levels, is there a way to change it? Later on with mod?

3) Also, can someone point me to where I can get a full list of hero abilities with their prerequistes?

EDIT:

3) For those that want a list of hero Abilities it is on ES Wiki click here

In the same way, you would be able to change the number of ability points as well.

Heroes do tend to level up fast. I guess there will be more documentation for this and modding after release.

The xp-gain of administrator heroes is bound to the structures/ships they produce.. everything they finish gives em some xp.

I haven't had a hero hit level 20 yet, but I recently hired a new admin/corporate hero and put him on my best system and immediately noticed his levelling rate was drastically greater than my first admin hero. I believe that their xp gain is based on their class, i.e. corporate heros based on dust and research production of a system, admin heroes based on food and production etc. So with hundreds/thousands of FIDS being produced during late game admin heros can easily be trained up.

Would be nice to have a dev confirm this though.

I hired a new administrator and placed him on my newly formed Shipyard system, a nice forge system with 2000 industry that I used to, of course, build ships. He was max level Maybe 40 or 50 turns later, half of which was during war, and most of which was spent building ships. Not sure on the exact amount of turns it took, but he quickly overtook the administrator in my home system

1.) Yep. This just means we have to be careful how we spec our Heroes, knowing we can't get everything.

2.) As far as I know, there is no way to change it. Options might arise in the future, but for now, 20 is it. And considering you usually don't get there until late/end-game anyway (in my experience anyway), more would be a bit pointless.

3.) Sorry, can't help you with this one. I've been looking for one too, so I can map out my Heroes ahead of time.
