Making this a single-selection poll requires too much thinking :-) I voted combat, because after you view the cinematics once or twice it is really boring, especially ground combat. But my second choice would have been diplomacy. I like fighting with a neighbor, and allying with his other neighbors to help. This is a very fun part of Total War Shogun 2.

Well I need more than I vote!

- Difficulty and/or AI behavior (especially in war, shipbuilding and strategy in later parts of game)

- Diplomacy (which is not working)

- Balance

Diplomacy. Definitely. You can have the most balanced game ever, but it can be killed by a stupid AI and diplomacy as seen in Civilization 5 for example.

Definetly diplomacy.

Everything else is is quite fine or unfinished and unbalanced in varying degrees. As many have said, diplomacy just don't seem to work.

Diplomacy is probably the most underdone right now.

I like the UI except for perhaps trying to locate things in the technology tree and some more notifications would be nice, i.e. a fleet has arrived at it's destination.

Have to say hell yeah to that. Last game I was playing UE. Had smashed another UE faction into dust, they were down to their last 2 or 3 systems, tho I didn't know it at the time, hadn't explored the strings far enough. I offered a cease fire when the Cravers declared on me, said I wasn't in a "position" to offer one. You'd think an empire being offered a reprieve from extinction by another empire they lost every battle to, who turned ALL their fleets to orbital debris and magnanimously offered to not wipe them out would jump at it. But nope. I wasn't in a strong enough position to get a cease fire. So I wiped them out. How's that for a strong position.

Voted Combat, it would be nice to have a little more in-battle options than just the cards.

I voted diplomacy. but specifically, and harder to due, under ship construction i'd like to see more hulls. I am used to games having numerous ships sizes/classes/types and 5 seems a bit low. Also, they'er all in the exploration part of the tech tree which I find kinda odd. *shrug*

Diplomacy and AI sure need a fair bit of love, but the one thing that annoys me the most are the HUGE slowdowns that you get as you pass turns later on in the game. I know the game is still in alpha and will be optimized further down the road, but this one issue is just biting me, especially as I'm more of a "late bloomer" kind of player, which usually means games heading well over the 200-turn mark.

I posted elsewhere /#/endless-space/forum/29-archives/thread/13360-composite-suggestion-invasion-improvement-i-d-like-to-see something I'd like to see, a choice when invading of placing puppets, a full scale invasion, and the level of bombardment from 'surgical' to 'holocaustic'. I think invasions should be quicker or have events that occur where you choose options that help or hinder the invasion, all choosing between cost in dust and speed of conquest and ability to hold the planet afterwards.

This could also affect diplomacy; using holocaustic techniques would put you in a diplomatic relationship of 'total war', not only should it be harder to declare peace in this case but your foe will feel no compunction about using holocaustic bombardment back.

I voted Diplomacy as well. Getting an empire to like you when you two share a border is really hard. We need more "nice" races like the sophons and less war races imo.

One thing that would also be nice is a quantity number behind the resource name in the diplomacy menu. I always have to check wether I have enough of a resource to sell and where I can get an easy monopoly. smiley: frown

A survey aiming at collecting opinions on what do you think should be given priority and should be improved for the Beta. This is not a multi-choice poll on purpose, so choose the option you think is most in need of improvement. Not everything made it to the poll due to the limited amount of poll choices, so if you have another "favorite" feel free to post it in this thread.

This is not a thread for collecting suggestions so if you want to make such do so in the GAMES2GETHER - Design Discussion section, before that make sure your suggestion is not already in the sticky or in the other threads in that section.

This thread will be closed when the Beta goes live, as by then it's going to be outdated.

Voted Diplomacy.

Other areas surely need (and will get) the improvement they deserve but diplomacy sticks out most visibly atm.

As long as you can't shape your strategy concerning other players, the game revolves solely around expanding, teching up and wiping the AI off the map eventually.

That limits the gameplay and breaks immersion too.

Especially the latest alpha change, that prohibited trading when at cold war, makes it nearly impossible to improve relationships when (not if) you will get to share borders with an AI, regardless of species, alignment or AI flavour.

On a more cosmetic front, a big nice leader portrait and maybe faction specific diplomacy texts would help immersion and a "living" feel to the galaxy tremendously.

But i guess around the arrival of the Amoeba species, who is dubbed to excel at diplomacy, the system will get it's much needed overhaul.

edit: typos

Diplomacy with the AI behavior a close second. It seems that the AI has no real want to be allies on normal or above difficulty.

I vote Diplomacy (followed by combat, maybe).

Balance is really a non-issue as it requires simply, but time-consuming, altering of the numbers, and not necessarily altering core game mechanics.

I my opinion, the most important items are those that require alteration of the core components of the game. For everything else, there are always independent modders smiley: smile
