I have:

ASUS MB M5A78L-M LX

AMD Phenom II X4 (Quad Core) @ 4 Ghz OC'ed

4Gb of DDR3 RAM (Speed dosen't matter)

NVIDIA Geforce 550 Ti

Two power supplies, one 650 W and another 400 W, this is unusual and most people probably wouldn't recommend it but I did it. The 650W isn't powerful enough on its own and I don't have the money for a better one.

That costs about $600 in all.

That site you mentioned seems trustworthy for the most part but they are overpriced. I can't say for sure, I've never gotten anything from them.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I have windows 7 64-Bit, you would have to buy a copy of that, I got my copy for free because of my school but that's about $100.

I might consider it now, i just have confidence issues with it being kinda daunting. Can i check back with you tomorrow morning on this?

EDIT: in comparison, from 1 to 10, 1 being a sucky computer to 10 being Gods computer, how good is yours?

Also, while i understand computers better than most people, i definitely don't know as much as you and am only 14. (After thinking about it, i doubt how old i am matters.

I didn't buy my computer I built it. In my experience computers bought from companies don't last as long as DIY computers.

I would be happy to help you find parts to buy and I know of some tutorials on building computers.

While i'd love to build a computer by myself (i know i can do it!) neither my mom nor I have the patience and time for it. Can you tell me what the specs are for your computer and how much it cost?

Plus, Can i ask what your opinion of this site is? www.ibuypower.com

EDIT: its a QUADRO NVS 280 PCI-E

That is a business video card meant for basic video and dual screens. You're lucky the game loads properly.

If you want a card that'll last for awhile go for an 1GB GeForce GTX 560Ti ($204, card can play games like skyrim on highest video settings) - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7191409&CatId=3585

Sure, you can PM me and we can talk more about it, I would recommend those turtorials, i havent looked through them but I have watched some of his other tutorials and can tell you he is very good at teaching and is way smarter then me.

I would rate my computer at 6, maybe 7. It can play almost any game no problem and I have thrown some big ones at it.

How old you are matters, when I was 14 I wasnt anywhere close to as good with computers as I am now and i'm 19 now.

I can run the game on an old centrino laptop - not bad in its day but not uber by any means.

Graphics turned to fastest - running at 1280 x 800 resolution.

Reducing the resolution on your pc will make quite a difference.

If you have PCI-E slot there are some ok 3d capable gcards on the market with .5gb ram for under 40 euros

You could do with upping your Ram to at least 2gb too really.

LordErrorprone where did you mostly buy your parts from? I am thinking of building myself a new computer sometime within 2 to 3 months from now and have been looking at several websites....

My computer is an ancient relic from 6~8 years ago, running WinXP on a single-CPU Athlon 64 3200+ (2.0 Ghz), with 1 Gig RAM and an old ATI 4600 series AGP video card. And it runs this game fine.

It does not run Sims 3 fine, or Supreme Commander 2 fine. But this game works well on my old hardware.

I bought all my parts from newegg and he cant play the game because he is using business class graphics card, those aren't built for gaming.

Well I also have issues with the game, I have a low powered graphics card because I spent my money on the processor and RAM so I run the game in fastest and get around 60-70fps. But the end turn takes forever and after a while it slows the whole game down, and I have monitored this and I think the the issue is that the game does not make full use of the resources available to it. I mean, I have 8gig of RAM and it has never used more than 2gig to my knowledge and I have tried to monitor it carefully.

http://www.scan.co.uk/ are quite good if you want to get all from the same supplier (helps with any future support - the supplier cant just blame a part from another supplier).

http://www.dabs.com do some really good motherboard, processer, memory bundles

A processor is only one part of making a game run smoothly.

What is your:

Memory?

Video Card?

OS?

Age of computer?

laptop/desktop?

The video card is probably going to be the problem, as it takes a 256mb video card; by far this is the most demanding requirement for the whole game.

That card is definitely not fast enough to play this game.

Edit: Just a suggestion for mokaiba, you would get more performance if you turned your page file off, you have more then enough ram.
