ok well i'm going to conclude my end so i don't go on forever about this. i pointed out casual reasons for disapproving of horatio. if the look and feel and the swirly ship fashion of horatio is something you are comfortable with ,then so be it.

folks who disapprove of horatio for similar criticisms to mine just simply do.

approval of fashion and feeling about something is beyond logic. either you feel it or you don't. i rest my case. peace.smiley: alder

I cant argue that as I personally love the Sowers not alone for their affinity I always liked to have cyborbs in MOO2 but also the lore and look of their ships.

"So why does everyone hate the horatio"

to state everyone is to state an absolute.

To counter an absolute one has to find an exception that contradicts it.

I don't hate the horatio.

I have now negated your statement.

K thx bye

Horatio looks gay tbh. And the fact that he wants to fill the universe with even more Horatio's is even gayer. And the Asimov's i assume guy he is based on, was quite evil, and not in a cool way, really evil and screwed off(had both sets of genitalia), and the race he was evolved from in the books treated Earth like a plague and quarantined it, literally. So why would i feel the urge to play him.

On the other hand, if it was a good looking chick, filling the universe with even more chicks i would be all in! smiley: biggrin

Ill say give him a gender change. Like.. he found his long lost sister, and she overtook the power and imprisoned him.

In a universe consisting only of "good looking chicks" there would be no place for, as long you don't fulfill this requirement. So there's no point in you hoping for one. I'm quite partial to his concept of being a megalomaniac industrialist. And his design fits this nicely, so he's just fine as he is.

you know, an all-female faction is an established idea which stayed popular throughout the history from ancient Greece Amazons till todays Asari. Thats what people want to see. But i have never seen anyone wanting to see a faction of.. gay clones. I do agree on the megalomaniac industrialist part, that would be nice. But a megalomaniac industrialist looks like Michael Douglas in Wall Street. Or Rockefeller. Neither wear makeup and especially dont "look up at the stars and decide to fill it up with more Horatio's" for no particular reason. Thats something an erratic and irresponsible person would do, not an Industrialist, who does nothing without practical purpose. In other words no matter where to look at, this faction's description doesnt hold. I could live with either part, be it an erratic dreamer or a Rockefeller. But an Erratic Gay Rockefeller is too much! it offends my senses, so i avoid this faction at all costs.

How is he gay? He's a megalomaniac sure, but i really see him more like zoolander.

He's awesome and crazy, but too in love with himself for it to actually be gay.

Narccisscism is not homosexuality. This is old in the Science Fiction Genre. "Time Enough for Love", by Robert Heinlien (1973) is the earliest example I am aware of of a relationship/marriage to a swtiched gender clone.

I am fan of the twist here that this "Industrialist" has gone Galt and has founded his own society as the Asthetics of the UE were found lacking.

No, in a cloned society sex would be repressed through drugs and laws.

In there eyes it would be disgusting and only worthy of lower forms of life. So no he is not gay.

See the same episode of Star Trek TNG that guy referenced earlier

This. If you start the game next to them you know they are going to block you from settling some words. On the flip-side it's incredibly convenient if you are playing as them.

I like them too, they are a really nice race. And you can duplicate your heroes.

Haven't played them yet, but they seem amazing simply for their ability to clone heroes. Having an super powerful General or highly leveled administrator on every important system seems really, really strong.

how old you guys if you don;t mind me asking? i think its the same in real life man, some people just aren;t liked as much as others. i break it down to a mix of different factors like look, behavior and history and so on.

i mean i don't really feel like using them cuz they seem weird on first impulse. and their look and being all male clones may stir up male homophobia in people even though i myself an open-minded. lol

My first complete game was with those guys, cloning my heroes got very silly very fast. In fact it was one reason I would go an expand my academy. That and throwing them into sure win fleet battles.

Probably because their ships look so weird and their playstyle is not as intuitive at first as Sophons, Craver etc.

I dunno, since I like those guys smiley: biggrin

I think Havoc is right, it's a question of playstyle ... some people like it, other don't. I disagree however about them being less intuitive ... same problem, it's a question of taste.

@NinjaDeathStrike : I would say cloning heroes make them easier to play ... as to have a very strong hero to clone, you need quite some time. And during this time, you have other heroes, and they are gaining xp as well ... so in fact, when I have a hero interesting enough to clone, my academy is full of really competent guys I would'nt fired. The only interest is if you have all the tech increasing academy size and not enough heroes coming to fill it. But again, for me at least, it comes late in the game.
