And by the way, they have included "low gravity" as a positive anomaly which gives extra population to a planet. So that can't be the explanation for the population problem of tiny and small planets compared to big and huge ones.

You can of course build upwards more easily, but lower gravity should also mean lesser density of atmosphere and lower height of atmopsheric expansion in turn. So you'd have less space to expand upwards if you want your people to breathe, at least.

Also: If you can build further up with tiny planets, why shouldn't you build further down on larger planets?

It just seems a little arbitrary to me. Wracked my brain why it is like this, but couldn't come up with a convincing explanation. As I like games to be coherent, I think it should be changed somehow so that no matter how many buildings you put on a planet, they can not have more population than the next bigger planet category. It might be a little petty-minded of me, but I do like to go for population in my 4x games and to terraform and develop until I got the best result. Everytime I see a big planet having the same pop as a tiny one it gives me a sharp pain and my brain goes like "no no, there should be more people, where are my people?!?!?". smiley: confused

Could be a balance from the games start where larger planets are immediately useful, but smaller ones are a little weak.

Could be an explanation, but than it should be mentioned in the explanation of the planets. Still it doesn't explain why buildings have population benefits for small planets, but not for big ones. If they are easier to build with low gravity conditions, there could be a production bonus for small planets, but not a population bonus.
