Stellar Converter is a pretty good terraforming weapon hehe.

Quite like the idea of using the local asteroid belt if the system has one as a ammunition to bomb a planet into submission.

Just a qeustion about black holes wil they exist in the game?

On topic:

Terraforming weapons? Sounds like a great idea!

If you do it with a good old supernova inducing superweapon, you'll give him a reason to move his planet very fast. :P

I attach a robot porn transponder which spews nudie ion viruses at all your feeble mine control systems!

Still doesnt work... Mines are put into minefields to make it unnecessary to guard and watch a certain area and to slow down if not downright stop advancing troops or weaponry.

Thats easily accommodated. First of all the mines doesnt have to overcome the cloak factor. Its the asteroid that has to get past the mines and it doesn't alter the objects physical size when being cloaked. Also its not the mines that has to find the asteroid... its not missiles... So detection is worthless to take into consideration as a feature. The mines are as said with a dyson-sphere distributed on a suitable distance as to break down any potential threat big enough to threaten the planets. The even distribution also allows for calculating the effect it will have on the object in order to destroy it sufficiently in order for it to burn in a atmosphere. So that has been taken into consideration.

I think this is more of a russian-roulette kind of thing. There is no winners... especially not the one that has to clean up this mes... eh... wait a minute.... GAH!!!

Operators of what? The spacemines? This isnt Horatio-suicide-spacemines that has to be filled with beautiful live DNA when it explodes...

I raise you a really big ball of yarn and a super large net much like a dyson-sphere with space-mines... around each planet (with safe distance though yet awesome special effects for the ppl)

Hi all,

I was wondering if there were going to be any environmental weapons in the game?

What I mean by this would be directing asteroids towards planets, using black holes to obliterate entire star systems or even nuclear fallout from a planetary bombardment?

Would anyone else be interested in seeing major ramifications for the use of certain weapons? I'm thinking of the shifting of gravity wells affecting traffic/ combat or the creation of odd evolutionary traits amoung your populace (perk or otherwise).

Regards

I agree that moving planets between systesm would have the potential to be very silly indeed especially in multi-player although asteroids would be a different matter...

I'm not sure that the disruption to a planets orbit should be counted out completely though. It'd wreak potentially tremendous havoc to the ecosystem which would be nice smiley: smile

Well considering a well placed asteroid can reverse poles and bring entire ecosystems to extstinction... It wouldn't take much, what?

But we were going to that system! Why are we at the neighbouringsystem?

It's a trap! smiley: wink

Going back to your terraforming weapons, what about destabilising a planets orbit? Given a few turns it could soon inhabit the 'sweet spot' suited to your race and at the same time cause all sorts of trouble for a defending ground force.

Let the process culminate and you could eject a planet from the solar system or drop it into a star (if you felt so inclined)...
