Quite right on the wrong place for this thread, but I've done one of those myself...

As for the 'fleet for fleet' idea.

I don't see any reason for getting this other then having the rock, paper, scissors, thing introduce fleet 'stack' building. IE: one fleet of each major weapon type and many fleets of one scout ship to take the fall.

There should not be a reason that someone with 3 fleets of 7 command points could NOT attack with all of them ... while the defender could have a possible 1 fleet with 21 command points. Logically there would be equal numbers, but the attacker, in this case, wasn't able to deal with commanding such a large fleet and the 3 separate fleets engage the enemy at different times due to the communications difficulties or what not.

For the record, suggestions are supposed to go into the Game Design Proposal forum, not this one. A mod will likely see this and move it for you though.

I disagree with the idea, though. If I have five fleets, and I attack an opponent that has six, and all of these fleets are in the same system...what's keeping that sixth fleet out of the battle? Realistically, it doesn't make sense. If you outnumber your opponent, use those numbers.

And while it would make sense for a player to choose which of their own fleets engage in battle, selecting what fleets your opponent uses would just be too unfair. And, again, unrealistic. We can't send an army into battle and tell the other country "Oh, you can only use this regiment, and this one, but the rest have to go sit on the sidelines, because we outnumber you." Yeah, it doesn't work like that. I think the battle system as it is now, while needing some tweaking still, works well enough to encourage balanced and tactical fleet designs.
