This thread is the origin of discussions about disabling the tilt in the system view.

My thoughts exactly when I started reading the thread. The tilt should be smooth and even, not stepped as it is.

Please, everything else about the game has been really nice so far, but this animation is really annoying. Like others I get the distracting urge to recenter it and it throws me off when dragging stuff around and even when clicking a bit. It's just disconcerting to move the mouse to click on a planet and have the planet start moving.

Good idea to disable system tilt. Not a problem for myself but it's always nice having the choice to turn it off.

Anyway, totally agree and voted "Yes".

Rotating planets would be excellent! Off the top of my head I thought they did rotate already. I think I smell another suggestion thread... =)

It should be as simple as holding Ctrl to stop tilting when you move people from platet to planet.

Easy. smiley: wink

This is a clever solution! smiley: biggrin

definitely should be made optional. I know that some guys here think it's "eye candy" but I myself would rather not have it in the game... making it optional should therefore be the perfect solution!

I totally agree. The idea is cool but after a while it does get slightly annoying, especially when trying to move the population around.

In general I am always for making stuff optional. Those who want it can enable and those who don't can disable.

If someone posted a poll, it seems to be a matter of letting it stand seven days and then giving jetkar a stub: "Hey jetkar, I have suggestion X. The poll on it has been on for 7 days and the result was general acceptance.", here: /#/endless-space/forum/28-game-design/thread/13003-summary-of-suggestions-so-far-discussion

If not, posting a link there helps, too.

Thank you for helping focus the topic =)

Is there any good way to get the devs' attention on this issue or is it just a matter of wait around and hope they pick it up?

Currently when you enter the system view (which displays planets within the system in a row), moving the cursor left or right causes the row of planets to "tilt" as if on a seesaw. While this is a cool animation that I'm sure many appreciate, some people may find it very distracting or irritating (for example when trying to move population around and the target keeps moving away from your cursor). Therefore I recommend the following change:

Allow players to disable system "tilting" as an option.

I believe this should be a fairly simple option to implement which would alleviate people that find this animation a bit headache inducing, not to mention cut down a tiny bit on system requirements for those running on low end machines.

From a practical standpoint, though, I have a bigger problem. When I'm trying to move population from one colonized planet to another, the target areas are apparently pretty small, like, the exact population symbol I'm trying to move them to. (Am I wrong about this?) When the planets start moving, the target moves around, and, when I move to compensate, it moves again. Trying to land the population I'm shifting is somewhat of an exercise in frustration as a result.

All you have to do is just drop them on the intended planet. Picking them up SLIGHTLY difficult, unless you take the extra second to let the movement stop... PLACING them is easy.

I definitely agree here... a toggle would be wonderful. Except... I have to admit, I'd keep it toggled off permanently, which I'd feel bad about because the effect is kind of cool. There are two reasons for that, one of them aesthetic and one of them practical:

Aesthetically, I find it distracting. I keep wanting to center the planets again so they're balanced in size. Actually a hotkey to recenter could solve that, and being able to lean on it to keep them centered the rest of the time would work.

I agree that this animation makes moving populations a bit more tricky than it should be at times. This is another reason to allow players to disable the tilt.

Agreed, should be implemented. that's fun 5 seconds but now it bother me mostly. i'll definitly toggle it off permanently too for the same reason as rickynumber24.

Thanks for the feedback! Although I wouldn't be entirely against a shortcut key as well, I believe a toggle option in the menus would be the most useful universally. This is because, in general, people would either want to remove the animation at all times (as opposed to having to hold down a button every time they enter system view) or just leave the animation as is. Therefore I think a system-retained toggle would be the most appropriate.
