I wouldn't call 2% of the users as "common". Of course if this doesn't take too much of the dev time that would have been spent fixing other game problems, then why not add a scaling option?

Well, I don't support your language but I agree that if there are people with high resolution displays out there and the game developers can't support it (make the game playable without aye strain), then it should be stated in the game requirements especially if the game doesn't have a demo. I bought the Emperor Edition just to find out, that I'm not a supported "minority".
And as an answer to the BlueTemplar; This statistic is not 100% accurate and depends on Windows DPI and resolution settings, eg. I run windows in lower resolution and this page show that resolution and not 2560x1440.

Ok, I didn't make myself clear here. I should have written "IF/WHEN I run windows in lower resolution [...]" as to prove that this page is not 100% accurate. I myself use DPI settings. And yes, all other resolutions apart from my screens native resolution make everything blurry.

Ok, I think this topic is important and popular enough to be shown to the devs. I've contacted the OP the other day but it seems that he left us already month ago (probably died from a major headache attack after playing ES), so I will put it into the "summary of suggestions" thread. I think it's a splendid idea Dropfish. Sadly, I don't think the poll will help us because, as you surely read, the general view is that we are a minority and so are our problems. I really hope though that the devs will look into this and give us the chance to enjoy this game in all its glory.

All right guys, as anticipated jetkar asked for a poll to see if enough people support this idea. I've created a poll here so please use it. According to the forum regulations, it must run for at least 7 days and we need a minimun of 10 people supporting our idea to overcome the first hurdle.

I use a 50inch 4k TV as my computer monitor and the font size is way too small. I can barely read what's on the screen from about 8-10ft away. If there is an option to increase the font size, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have over 200 hundred other games in my Steam collection - only remember this problem once or twice before and I ended up not playing those because of eye strain it caused with text that is too small for a relaxed viewing.
You better wait and see if Amplitude will change this problem.
I agree, I had just a few games that had problems with bad interface scaling (remember two Paradox games I quit playing) and most of my games (even indie games) scale nicely on modern monitors. Well, it's a shame that ES doesn't support high resolution displays but I will be checking this thread and if the developers fix this I will gladly buy the game. Good luck guys!
I started playing this game today and I am finding the text very uncomfortable to read when the game is at the native resolution for my monitor (2560x1440). I can't be the only person who feels this is a problem, and so my suggestion is that either the text size be increased, or an option be implemented for players to alter the size of text in game (even a simple 'larger text' checkbox would be fine, it doesn't need the ability to select a specific size.)
If so, I'd definitely want this to be optional/scalable by choice. Personally, one of the reasons I play at a higher resolution is to allow more information to be displayed, not just to make what is displayed already "prettier". Forcing the text to scale inversely with resolution like this would prevent that from being able to be done
I also think the GUI should be scalable. My screens native resolution is 2560x1440 (Dell U2711) and I get headache when I stare too long at the small text on the screen.
You should just halve the resolution to 1280x720 (manually change the value in the xml). You can't expect the UI to work well in such a huge resolution as 2560x1440 when it must also work well at 1024x768.
When I change the resolution the game-text is blurry due to interpolation. I know that the GUI must work well even at 1024x768, but it would be nice with a possibility to scale the GUI so even users with high resolution can enjoy and play ES comfortably.
It would be nice of course, but if even Blizzard cannot do it right with Diablo 3 with all the manpower and money they have, do you really expect Amplitude Studios to be able to fix it?
If you halve the resolution it won't be blurry, since one pixel of the game will exactly fit into 4 pixels of your screen.
I don't know if Amplitude Studios can do it, but I know that some developers are good at scaling their GUI and I have no problems running those games on high resolution. I'm sorry but I don't see Blizzard and their priorities being a norm for the entire gaming industry despite them being a big developer. Well, I've just added my opinion and now it's up to SE devs to decide what to do with it.
Scaling to multiples of 1/3 ( 1/(1+1/3) or 1/(1+2/3) ) might work too, since screens are often composed of subpixels for each of the 3 basic colors, and graphic drivers generally know how to exploit that effect for smoother text for instance...

Basically this, even at 1900x1200 I find the UI and text quite small. I understand alot of info is trying to be shown but it would be nice if the windows scaled with the resolution. Amplitude obviously put in a large amount of time developing the art and I (and I'm sure others) wanna see it in all its glory!
I'm glad that I'm not the only one finding this to be a serious problem. I tried to play today but after a short while I was forced to end the session. I've changed the resolution but the blurriness didn't help my headache. I'm starting to feel that I will not be able to enjoy this game because of this UI issue. I think this game is fantastic and I want to play and support it so I really hope that the devs will be able to make the UI/text scalable.

Did you try scaling to the ratios I told you about?
Note that ES might auto-change to the closest "allowed" ratio instead (look in the ES settings to see what your resolution is set at), so you'd have to make sure first that you limit your available screen space to a (sub)multiple of the resolution ES chose.
I'm not certain how it can be done outside of an OS emulator like VirtualBox, maybe some screens/graphic cards/graphic drivers/third party programs can allow you to do that...

Yes, I tried your solution and I also tried other resolutions, screen settings and hardware scaling through GPU, but it's still blurry. Beside the blurriness the game graphics are ugly in low resolutions. The only real solution is UI scaling through the game either automatic or via an option (UI size: small, medium, large).

Scaling through options is a good idea and I think it should be easier to implement than automatic scaling. Come on Amplitude, give us some (good) answers.
Is it so bad? I haven't bought the game yet, but I've seen an LP on youtube and I'm very interested. I have an NEC MultiSync PA271W (2560*1440) and have earlier bought some games that I can't play because of badly scaled interfaces.

I must agree with RonaldUS. Don't get me wrong now, I love everything about this game BUT the small GUI is making the game unplayable on high-res monitors. I really hope this will be fixed, I can even pay another copy for it to be fixed.
