Wow its rare you see a poll this lopsided. It would be really nice to have laert messages for pretty much anything you can think of couple with an option screen to choose which ones you want turned on, like Distant Worlds or any of the Paradox Games.

I completely agree with you, for obvious reasons, but we mustn't forget that a balance is required between what you and we others said and what Nats said, i.e. that there mustn't be too many messages either.

Most importantly, we need messages which bring the game alive and enhances its feel! I already like the few messages with first colony and the flag etc., so it's heading in the right direction, we now only need more like that! smiley: smile

Don't you think?

I agree with Dinadan, messages for unmoved fleets are fine but only if they aren't getting annoying, like having them all in one stack. I don't really need more messages, but they would be quite a help sometimes.

I can't imagine that it would be hard to set up a filtering system. Have the game record all messages and throw the ones you don't want to read into a log that you can access.

@thegreedyturtle: you're right, it would be good if one could click some form of "do not repeat this type of message" button to filter out the kind of event messages one would rather not receive. Coupled with the option to decide if one would like many or few event messages (either in the menu panel before starting a new game or in an in-game menu) that should please everyone.

The importnat thing here is to make sure that the log is easily accessible. Civ IV was kinda annoying, because they had a log system, but if you wanted to read it you needed to know some archaic Emacs-esque key combination. If the devs decide to implement this feature, I really hope that they just put is as a button on the side of the screen or something. If you can't bring it up easily, it's utility is kinda limited.

I agree, a log of some sort would be quite helpful, just in case you do want to go and look something up...

My thread got linked and archived, so here I am voting for more event messages, especially when it comes to Invasions / Blockades etc! smiley: smile

100% agree, there definitely need to more more event messages. There are too many times that I've missed out on things just because I wasn't notified.

Anyone have an idea of what the current status on event messages being implemented into the game is? Has gotten awfully quiet here.... smiley: confused

I don't want any more messages about things that have happened in my empire that I can see myself. I want events messages that spice up the game and tell a story or evoke some atmosphere. Perhaps some decisions about which way to take my empire. More things to think about in terms of diplomacy and trade. And missions. These are the things I want events messages on.

And that's exactly what I mean by more event messages. I don't just want lots of messages saying this or that is going on and that's it; I want the game to come alive! smiley: smile

Cool little videos for resource monopolies, discovery of techs, starting a war, entering an alliance, agree to a ceasefire, etc ,etc? No way who wants cool little immersive movies or images when events happen in the game?

/sarcasm off

I can only dream.

My thoughts exactly! smiley: smile Could perhaps be a little like in Empire: Total War with cool pictures and short videos and the option to switch these off (as in "don't repeat")... Now that should make everyone happy, don't you think? smiley: smile

I think it would be in its just the price point of the game, they could start a kickstarter and ask fo $25 to do al the additional art and they would probably be amazed at how many people would pay for it.

Well, I don't know if people would be willing to cough up an extra $25 just for art and videos. I think we need to be realistic here. So maybe just $20 then....? smiley: wink

Very important issue indeed. I see that according to the "Community Suggestions Amplitude is following"-thread this is already long "done". Haven't seen it in the game though, maybe (hopefully) it's one of the secret additions in the upcoming RotA.

Since that thread started (since the beginning of the beta I believe)we did add a lot of notifications , but we are very careful in not adding too many messages that would clutter the game experience.

yet we still carefully following the ones that you feel are really lacking.
