I agree with Dinadan, messages for unmoved fleets are fine but only if they aren't getting annoying, like having them all in one stack. I don't really need more messages, but they would be quite a help sometimes.

More messages would definitely be great but with choice of notification level for player of course (not everybody likes notifications).

But for a 4X game the more information you have, the better it is smiley: biggrin

For instance idle fleets, idle planets, planets under siege etc

I would love something similar to total war that could sit on the side and give me a turn end/turn start report that says how much Dust I made, how much time left on research (I know it tells me at the top), any star systems that became blockaded or are under siege, anywhere my sieges ended, as well as listing all of the completed constructions of ships and system stuff, all in one screen. This would be especially useful for when you finish a research that unlocks for resources and you get 6 damn messages telling you about each one. Just put it all on one big sheet that tells me everything I need!

Also, the random messages are fun too. Maybe up the frequency of those by a tiny bit for random events (or make that a customizable slider before the game how many random events you want?)

It would really be nice if the messages were configurable (so you could turn them off ifg they annoy you).

Totally agree with you Galanthein, perhaps there should be an option menu/panel where one can adjust which events should be displayed with event messages in the game (a bit like the panel where you can enable/disable victory conditions and pirates)

Yes indeed for event messages, anything like this to add more life to the activity going on in Endless Space helps bring it to life alot more, rather than make it feel too sterile.

Especially Cause and Effect events where your actions can have an impact and are flagged now and then with some sort of effect as a result.

Choice Events too would be great where you have a decision to make that influences an outcome/future event/story etc.

The more immersion and sense of activity, the less just-another-4x-simulation Endless Space evolves into. smiley: wink

your right Dr_Mox, perhaps it would be a good idea if the event messages contained some form of actionable content, which assists in defining your faction/empire in the eyes of the galaxy (i.e. the other factions).

An example might be that you discover a derelict ship which contains some historical knowledge and you are then requested to decide whether you share it with the other factions or not, resulting in you getting points in the direction of "generous"/good if you do share the knowledge or in the direction of "secretive"/evil if you don't...

Any thoughts?

Certain events need to repeat as well, such as 'hero level up.' you should be able to check off a box that says 'do not repeat this message.'

I think the most important one is 'colony is not producing' I frequently have to check my colony list to make sure everything is working on something or other, because I don't always check the 'finished work' tab thoroughly enough. This would also be significantly mitigated with decent governer AI. I'd like to set a governer AI take over when I forget to put something up.

Absolutely. System besieged. Queue Idle. Ships Idle but not blocking or sieging. Absolutely.

The lack of feed back in this game is daunting. Of course, in a way, it is realistic.
