Again thanks for your statement SpaceTroll! I really appreciate that you guys look into the forums to see what the community has to say, that's one big reason why I'm such a fan of your company and your game! Since I haven't played the beta I don't know how the situation was back then and I understand your concerns, but I'd say that ES still is to stringy with its notifications. For example the successful invasion of a system is an important and relatively rare event, still there is no notification about it.

Since that thread started (since the beginning of the beta I believe)we did add a lot of notifications , but we are very careful in not adding too many messages that would clutter the game experience.

yet we still carefully following the ones that you feel are really lacking.

Thanks for your input SpaceTroll, you are indeed correct in that there are far more event notifications / messages in the game now, whis is great, but we need more - obviously without cluttering ES up like you said - and this will no doubt be a difficult thing to balance for you guys. But keep it up, it's definitely already an awesome game! smiley: wink

btw way, how about dynamic event messages i.e. the player has to decide something and that will cause an effect of sorts...? just an idea smiley: stickouttongue

Easiest way to make everybody happy:

Let people customise which alert messages they want to have (under options in main menu). That's how it's done in many games, it doesn't require much programming effort and will satisfy everyone.

Well, more warnings like "System under siege" etc. would be nice. But please don't tell me about every single fleet that hasn't used its movement points. Things like that get very tedious very fast.

At the very least I'd like a message at the end of the turn telling me I still have fleets with moves left.

Definitely would like some more warnings. I've had systems conquered simply because I was distracted with something on the other end of the map.

And with this feature (which already exist for scientific research), there would be a need of a "wait one turn" button. (And the button "guard system" should exclude the ship as well from the end of turn "waiting ships" checklist)

Fully agree to more messages. Especially for sieges and movement of fleets. Although the "fleetscreen" tells us enough already, it would be nice to get a reminder a ship arrived at its destination, because when a game grows more elaborate in management, a multiturn movement is easily forgotten.

Absolutely.

I am surprised there is no "you're under siege" warning. I've lost systems a couple of times to pirates because I had no idea they were even under siege.

The fleets with turns left thing would also be cool, although that would require other steps as well to streamline the move system.

System without production warning is a must-have.

Yes. It happened to me several times. The thing is that the black-gray of the pirates fleets is pretty hard to discern on the deep space dark.

Gyomb you're saying there is already a waiting ships checklist? Which tech is it?

I am pretty sure he was refering to the warning when you try to end the turn without having an active research. I disagree that this is "needed" for fleets but I can see it being useful. But in general I agree completely with the need for more notifications, especially about systems under siege.

You know, I hadn't encountered this until today.

Hi all,

first off I couldn't find anyone else having suggested this so I thought I'd go ahead and just do it - should, however, someone have been quicker than me (probably very likely) then by all means merge or delete this thread smiley: smile

Anyways, back on topic: Although there are many more important things to improve etc I think adjusting the small things are quite important, too, and sometimes playing ES I somehow feel that it could do with some more event messages appearing at start of turn, for example a nice picture and then a message informing the player that an attack has been warded off, that a system is being besieged or has fallen etc.... I used to play Total War (very different I know) a lot and I quite liked the event messages although I admit that they got annoying pretty quickly because they weren't unique enough and after a few hours of playing one would be pretty used to them....

I do think though that if the message shown was more indicidual to each event and system affected, then it could really improve the feel for one's empire (the sort of feeling that your systems are full of life and citizens you should care about and not sacrifice at a whim)...

What do you guys think? Please add to the discussion why you're for or against more event messages smiley: smile
