Dear diary,

I still can't get used to all of this. I was a Sophon once. I had a body. Now... now all that's left is my mind. I have a clone, of course, I engineered it myself. But remotely controlling this sack of blood and flesh is nothing like having a body of my own.

I shall never forget the people responsible for my “death”. Cursed humans, I hate them all!

My thoughts are chaotic as I think back on the last 61 years. I never thought my exile would last this long. During that time, my only happy memories date back to the time spent with the ABC pirate group. It was them who helped me arrange everything for the mind-to-AI transfer. Of course, they did so only after I upgraded their ships but it was a small price to pay for an insurance policy like this.

And now I'm back. I'm amazed that my people still remember me. But there was no chanting the day I returned to power. My people lost faith. They believe they're merely moments away from extinction. All they want from me is successfully negotiating the terms of our surrender.

3089 AD: I sent my private ship to Eden to negotiate the cease fire. Those brain-dead humans didn't even recognize my voice. They also didn't notice when I nicked a lot of dust by hacking into their network while signing the treaty. Fools.

It will be years before the cease fire treaty expires and I'm the kind of man who breaks his oaths. But mark my words – when the time comes, we will be ready.

I also signed a peace treaty with Automatons. I managed to convince them that their antimatter can help us destroy the humans. I think the Automatons like me, maybe it's because of my new body; or lack thereof.

I personally designed two new ships classes – the Blood Rainbow, specifically designed to abuse the humans' ships weaknesses and tear them to pieces. And the mighty Smiley Fist. No weapons can pierce its armor.

In just a few months, I made my people fervent again. They praise me as their savior and the bringer of peace. I had a speech where I thanked the people for support and also talked about the values of vigilance. A human wouldn't understand much of my speech but I know that my Sophon brethren understood what I tried to say to them – the real war is yet to start.

I renamed our smallest system to Hope. I think it fits our current situation.

Additionally, I told my governor on Main Lab (what is this guy anyway?) to move all available workforce to our shipyards.

Even though trading with humans makes me sick, our empire needs a more stable economy. My people are poor and hungry and I won't stand for this. I traded away some of our technology.

Lastly, we are now researching infinite variable computing. Some advisers wanted me to finish the previous tech first but I was not in the mood to negotiate.

3090 AD: I trained that weird alien creature in the art of conquering peoples' hearts. I think it likes it.

With an overwhelming approval from my people, I launched a terraformation project on one of the planets in Main Lab. Surprisingly enough, even the most hardcore scientists seems to be happy; they will no longer have to travel to Eden to study lava planets.

3091 AD: People are making generous donations to the war effort. Funny, we're not even officially at war. I guess my weekly speeches made my people hate the humans almost as much as I hate those apes.

3092 AD: A moon on screwdriver is just a useless rock. Well, it may be right now, but I already have plans to turn it into a luxurious spa center. Entrance shall be free for everyone that made a war contribution. Oh, I'm sorry, I mean: donated their money for charity.

I designed a new scout ship – Heart – and sent it to the dark parts of the galaxy. We need some trade routes.

3093 AD: I found a Pilgrim system. It's called Hadar and it's... it's beautiful. I wish I could have it...

I wish we could afford another lava planet in Main Lab but I don't want the people to suffer for it. Too bad we've colonized that useless gas giant, it's pretty much the source of all our problems. Oh well...

3094 AD: Our first ship is ready. My people celebrate and I can hear them chanting my name wherever I go. I forgot how good it feels. But this is not the end of our troubles. We need to continue working hard and make a fleet powerful enough to launch a counterattack on humans.

3095 AD: Another ship has been built on Eden. We're now making Blood Rainbows.

We're doing this. Another planet in Main Lab will soon be set on fire. We shall created the most powerful army this galaxy has ever seen. In the name of science!

3096 AD: Edasir discovered. It's basically a refueling station for the Pilgrims, nothing more.

Main Lab is now outproducing Eden in a really big way! That human scum that I use as a pet governor was begging me to transfer him to our homesystem but I denied his request. Only that cute alien thing knows how to win the hearts of the Sophons – my people wouldn't follow a human with the same attitude.

I decided to trade with Pilgrims again. This time we're the ones who received technology. We also now have an abundance of hyperium.

Meanwhile, our fleet continues to grow.

3097 AD: With our new supply of dust, we managed to hurry the production of some brand new refrigerators. I've seen them on holotv, they must be real good!

Main lab has completed its first Smiley Fist! It was a good decision to terraform our planets – now we can launch a new ship every year! That's a major improvememnt from before when it took us several years to make even the most insignificant vessel.

We found 3 more Pilgrim systems. Almost every has a wonder on it. This is madness.

3098 AD: An Amoeba envoy reached our systems. They propose a peace treaty in return for our most advanced technologies. I coughed, showed the Amoeba our enormous shipyards and and helped the ambassadors to the exit.

We now know the secrets of infinite production. I ordered to start researching gas giant terraformation. Oh yes, you know what's coming.

3099 AD: We have a powerful fleet on Eden, I wouldn't hesitate a guess that it can take on anything that the humans throw at us. But we need more. As soon as predictive logistic are finished, we should be able to pump out ships twice as fast as before.

Big day today. Our scouts report that they've seen half of the entire galaxy. I have no idea how they can be so sure but whatever. We'll hold a small festival to celebrate.

3100 AD: Incredible! Amazing! Glory to science! Glory to industry! We can now construct ships at incredible speed. Truly, we are becoming a force to be reckoned with.

3101 AD: A crushing victory!

Our armada managed to intercept a lost human fleet. We attacked swiftly and mercilessly. It was a bloodbath. Before the enemy ships were able to retreat, they were all utterly destroyed by our long-range weapons. Meanwhile, our cruisers and destroyers suffered no casualties – they were barely even scratched!

In an act of revenge, a human saboteur was captured trying to destroy our shipyards. The damage was minimal but repairs will be costly.

Our scouts have been intercepted and shot down by the Amoeba without warning or hesitation. Our intel revealed that the Amoeba ships are numerous and employ various different weapon and defense types but are not particularly strong and lack focus.

I sent our ships back to Eden, leaving one Smiley Fist to protect Main Lab. I hope to have at least 2 more functioning and fleets by the end of the cease fire treaty.

3102 AD: 3 ships made in one year on just one system is something that my race was never capable of achieving. Until now. I can see respect in the eyes of ambassadors coming to visit Main Lab. Respect... and fear.

This comes at a price, of course. Our labs haven't been so empty in decades and all our researchers care about is military tech. I hope that once we eradicate the human thread, we can come back to our old ways.

The terraformation has started on the gas giant. I wish we could turn it into a helium or a methane planet, alas we don't quite have the workforce to do this quickly enough. We'll have to settle for a lava planet.

In my spare time, I started developing self-organizing data. My knowledge of aliens allowed our scientists to finally research this project. Not a moment too soon. This will only take a few months to finish, so I also opened a project on siderite studies. This should allow us to equip our ships with regenerative plating. Maybe we'll also be able to repair the endless relict orbiting Eden.

3103 AD: The DJ on the radio changed music tracks randomly. It freaked me out.

Oh no.

It has to be an inside job. It has to be! Someone is hacking me. I'm... I'm dying.

Whoever this is, it cannot be a human. Only a Sophon could bypass my security systems. But why? Why would someone do this?

I know that my people will remain loyal to my memory. During the past 15 years there was not a day when someone wouldn't send me flowers. I'm being loved by many. They praise me as their savior, I can hear their chants even now, through my clone.

If I shut down, my clone will enter a coma. All Sophons know what I am, they'll quickly realize that I'm being hacked but by then... I fear it might be too late.

It's funny. My empire has entered a great age of prosperity despite the war with mankind; our treasury is filled with dust and our fleets – War and Peace – are a terrifying sight to behold. It looked like everything might be alright... And yet here I am. About to

So that's it from me. I really think that everything will be fine but I have a few things to say to my successor:

UE is lacking in deflectors and they're focusing on beams, rarely adding in a few missiles. They use no fighters or bombers. My ships are designed to counter them and, judging by the battle I had, they're excellent at their job.

Don't be fooled by the Smiley Fists' low MP - the game doesn't include armour when calculating MP. Those ships are absolute beasts, no matter what the game says.

I think the best fleet combinaiton is 3 Smiley Faces and as many Blood Rainbows as possible. When paired up with defense formation, Smileys will tank the damage while Blood Rainbows rain death.

With almost 2k dust you can revive a hero or buy a bunch stuff. Eden and Main Lab have abundant luxuries improvement so things will be cheaper if over there.

The human hero can now bypass blocades. Should be useful.

Also, I know it's tempting to trade Hope for some tech/dust but honestly, I don't think it's a good idea. It would damage our diplomacy and this system is increasing our overall science and dust gain. It's also about to finish infinite supermarkets so please don't cancel that (it took forever!)

Lastly, if you're to invade UE or Pilgrims, please redisgn the invasion ship. I never did so it's probably outdated. Also, I beg you, don't use troops! smiley: stickouttongue We don't have enough population to move it to warships.

That's it! Here's the save and screenshots:

Awesome, GO PAN!

Haha

I should tell you that I've actually only ever played vanilla Endless Space - so was interested to read about how you use defensive formations etc. See? Not just fun; educational.

Stealth_Hawk, Pan has handed you the keys to the Empire. Use them well, our friend!

Edit: question to Pan: why use LR kinetics?

Turn-106

Healed Forsythe. War is imminent and we will need him at the front. Plus he gets us dust per CP destroyed...

Turn-107

Boosted trade roots, and leveled up Kyryi

Turn-108

Designed a new ship, its a cruiser that I hope will be an all around capital ship. I'm hoping to produce equal amounts of these fleets and the fleets PAN designed, so our enemy had no idea what to expect.

Turn-109

Moving ships around...

Turn-110

Finished Tectonic engineering. This will be useful

queued Advanced Scholastics. Our economy won't sustain this navy without it.

Turn-111

Hired a new hero, a Sophon. I'll boost his science abilities and replace one of our governors with him when war comes.

Turn-112

Leveled up Kyryi with Beam Surge. I'll assign him to the 'capital' fleet with the beams, hopefully he will do us good.

Turn-113

Unassigned Kyryi and assigned him to the beam fleet. We are ready for war with the UE.

Turn-114

Casually Declared war and sent the two hero fleets into Rainbows. If we don't start destroying their fleets now, we never will.

First battle. 0 HP lost on our side to the utter destruction of one of their hero fleets.

Turn-115

The UE switched to MR Missiles, and are now loading up on deflectors and no shields. This makes my beam fleet highly effective, but because it is MR as well, it takes a loss every battle due to the UE using nose breaker, and their ships having a glass-cannon like effect. I redesigned the capital to have LR beams.

Turn-116

Battles. The UE is sending just about every fleet they have to Rainbows.

Turn-117

Battles. We continue to crush UE fleets like powder.

Turn-118

More battles (who would have thought?) Those MR missiles are starting to annoy...

Turn-119

Battles and construction queuing.

Finished researching Adaptive taxing

Turn 120

Finished building tax systems on two of our systems. This should be useful. Oh, and more battles this turn

To my successor (IMPORTANT): I'm not going to hide it, I made a error with the MR beams. They do their job, but the MR missiles take their toll. So be carful if you use that fleet.

I Recommend: Make two fleets of the LR beam type. Send one to Rainbows and assign Kyryi to it (So it can smash fleets and not take losses) And consider sending the second one to guard our Pilgrim border. You may also consider sending the other Smiley fleet there too. It doesn't pay to be reckless with fleets, I imagine.

It's a .rar file, which is an archive file like .zip.

You can open it using WinZip or any other rar archiving app. Hope that helps .

3119 Automatons proposed soil revivification for advanced warp gravitics, this was accepted. There was a battle over rainbows which was a slight win, only lost 1 ship to their 4. Peace with amoebas and they give us flawless machining increases weapons, designed new ship using flak and shields with lasers : named A1. Changed hyperscale farms to replication plants on main lab 1. queued A1s on eden

3120 another battle which was an easy victory, another battle no ships lost enemy fleet destroyed, 3rd battle most of enemy fleet destroyed no losses.

3121 Amirmoez learned more about coopetition, pilgrims broke a deal giving us hyperium,

3123 lots more battles all victories, sent new fleet to rainbows, began research on bigger warships peta , more battles more victories

3124 sent new fleet to rainbows , proposed cease fire denied because they would not give us rainbows, more battles all wins, predictive sensor array construction began on mainlab and a1s,

3125 open borders proposed by amoeba along with offerings of titanium 70 and hexaferum accepted. 2 easy victories no more UE fleets over rainbows, designed invader queued in all ship producing systems.

3126. Completed applied atmospherics, began researching hyper magnetics for better invasion, designed assault ship, heavy armor and weapons, bought out two invaders,

3127 sent fleets to echius to intercept enemy fleets there. Battle and victory. Invasion begins on rainbows. Auriga conquered by another faction

3128 hyper magnetics finished, researching personal shielding for luxury resources

3129 all new invaders sent to rainbows greatly speeding up invasion

3130 pilgrims cancel another deal, UE request cease fire, denied, lost a ship over echius but the UE lost entire fleets.

3131 more invaders sent, more battles, you can guess the outcomes

3132 began researching solar mining for advanced tactics in battle. Stopped ship construction to help economy. Did battle with an impressive fleet, moderate losses but then they were defeated.
