It could be very useful when making Thumbnails for YouTube and such, or if people want to set up their own web-sites with guides etc.

I did manage to find Humankind logo as a PNG with transparent background, but not the hand. I had to find it and cut it out myself and create transparent background. I also only found very bad quality logos of OpenDev and all having various backgrounds with mixed image/colours, so nothing I could use. It could be useful to get both the logo of Humankind, the hand, but also the OpenDev Logo and such in high resolution. All both in black and also in white. All with transparent backgrounds of course.

@Phawk Thank You !!! Much appreciated. *thumbs up*

I personally had managed to get the hand with transparent background and make it white, so it fitted on a black background for YouTube thumbnail. It was mostly OpenDev logo I had not managed to get with transparent background. Using a screenshot from when the game was loaded did not work well to cut out and make a version with transparent background as some of the background would still come through in the borders of the logo. The background kind of bleeds into the logo at many pixels, as a screenshot is not like an original high resolution high quality PNG logo to work with.

Also for those who do not know how to create a transparent background on PNG I thought it would be a good idea to release like a press kit for YouTubers. Just to save people the hassle. So many PNG's out there, not just Humankind logos, but also emojios and whanot, where people have saved them as PNG's and think the background is transparent. However once You open them they have the grey/white checkerboard included in the background and are not acctually transparent..

You can easily make any cut out image have transparent background as a PNG with free programs like Paint.net, or even with just using Windows 10 Built in Paint 3D. You acctually don't even need PhotoShop to do it, but most have no idea how to do it properly in either program.

Here is a small easy to understand video guiding anyone interested on how to do it in Paint 3D, as well as Paint.net. First how to remove the background with Magic Select (magic select is acctually pretty good at identifying which pixels to cut out, in any case you can alwsy add and remove some pixels or areas you donät want included) in Paint 3D and then how to acctually save the cut out image and save it with transparent background and not get white or grey/white checkerboard background. Then also showcasing how to do it even more professional with cropping the background in Paint.net and not get a huge background canvas included. A couple of handy ways to do it for those that can't afford PhotoShop of think PhotoShop is hard to understand and use.

Hopefully someone will find it useful.

@Lord_Funk I decided to check out the forums since I haven't since open dev and lo and behold Funk has a shiny VIP badge for the forums now. Guess that means we gonna see you digging in deep if we get a new opendev / beta eh? Let's hope we get some news on what to expect for next year of Humankind before the year is out.

VIPs already have access to an alpha build, however we're under NDA and can't discuss it. I will say there is a lot more than what has been announced, and the game is looking good.

Hi there @kryton24 Nice seeing You again !!! *thumbs up*

You should get more active and who knows, maybe You would also get a shiny new title. ;)

As for anything non OpernDev. Just like @Eulogos already wrote.

My lips are sealed, he he he !!!

Needless to say NDA is standard practice in these cases. Something I fully respect and honour. Not the first game I test in my life. Just imagine a competing strategy game company getting full insight via someone leaking and then stealing alot of ideas. That could harm a studio like Amplitude severly and affect future sales. I would never want to do that.

That still does not mean that a game company wants to stear or influence ones game review once the game is released, just that they need to protect their property against industrial espionage up to that point. After that one can still give an honest review and opinion in public, as it should be. Just not reveal confidential information prior to that.

I've been a bit busy irl with stuff happening with family members in these times, so not been able to dig as deep as I would have liked too after I was honoured with a VIP title. However things seem to be clearing up now with family members (hope I don't jinx it by saying that). So hopefully I will dig in real deep any day now. I can NOT talk about any details of that of course unless allowed to at some future point.

As I said You should get busy in the forums, as I'm sure Your input would be much valued too, behind the curtains. You made excellent posts during OpenDev.

Anyways, really nice seeing You again. :)

Well pretty good cool hearing the work going on under wraps. I'm not sure if I'll be super active like I was during open dev unless we get back into the mud again with a new opportunity but hey worst case scenario here I know they still got some passionate testers doing whatever is needing to be tested atm.

I imagine they will have to test multiplayer at some point and maybe then they'll bring back some more opportunities, if not sooner, to test stuff with the community being established here. Anyways, don't mean to jack this thread topic LOL.

@kryton24 No worries. That is how conversations and discussions evolve. You start with one topic that can lead to waking ideas about thinsg and the topic can grow and evolve. As long as it's not intentional trolling or intentionally trying to stear away from a topic with the purpose to kill the topic it's no problem, npo problem with me anyway, that a thread can sometimes add in things that is not strictly 100% about the original topic. One can always get back on track anyway, if so chose.

Yes multiplayer is something I'm not really into at all. Not in Turnbased strategy games at least. I am always willing to stress test servers of course and see if it's possible to connect to others and the stablity and such, but as far as multiplayer and multiplayer balance that is something I'm not that good at. I have done that in MMO RPG's of course as that is the only way to test those games as they are multiplayer by default and not singleplayer at all. In those games I'm much more competent in balnaceissues and such. When in comes to Turn Based strategy I mostly, almost exclusively, play them as singleplayer. Sometimes multi with my son or some close friend, but usually not a whole game to the end. We often get tired after a while when it's obvious who will win anyway. Doesn't really matter if it's them or me, it gets boring once it's very obvious who has the upper hand and not much to do about.

So I can imagine that it will be good for Amplitude to get some people like You that are alot more deeply into multiplayer to test that side of the game. As I said players like me can stress test servers and whatnot for multiplayer. Plus I will of course do as much as I can to help with that side too. I can even hook up with others and try the gameplay and all. However players like You would probably be better at more deeply testing the acctual gameplay of the multiplayer side and come with feedback on that part. I have no problem admitting my own weaknesses and that is one of them. As I said I am much more into singleplayer of these types of games than multiplayer.

Oh and btw did You ever set up a discord channel for Humankind ??? It would be nice to stay in contact even if I don't have discord on all the time, but sometimes switch it on. I'm still in some channels for LoTRO and MMO RPG's like that, as well as Old World official discord. I've not really been on discord myself for a while acctually. Not during whole summer I think.
