I've been following this game closely. I'm very excited about it based on the artwork and opendev scenarios. But I'm really curious about the remaining cultures in Industrial and Contemporary eras. I can't find where people have taken guesses as to what they would be - the most useful reddit thread basically stops here.

https://www.reddit.com/r/HumankindTheGame/comments/g647s9/humankind_culture_list/

I can't even come up with a full list of ten cultures that cover at least 1/region, so hopefully other people can share their guesses

Industrial (to WWI): Germany, Great Britain, USA, France, ... Argentina?, Japan?, Russia?, Austro-Hungary?, Persia?, Thailand?, Ethiopia?

Contemporary (includes WWII??): USA, Germany, USSR, China,... India?, Brazil?, Indonesia?,

There has long been an illustration of industrial Germans.

The developers recently showed us 4 cities of different industrial cultures:

Siam

Russian

And two cultures that I haven't identified exactly. (Possibly Turks and Mexicans).

First, it would be great to specify the exact timeframe for both Eras.

According to the early developers videos the 5th era starts at 1700 and it lasts until 1900 or until 1920. The last era ends at 2020.

So they announced Austro-Hungarians (still remember the black-yellow flag in Industrial era tech tree in one of their first videos).

Industrial era:

Among European countries we definitely have Russia (should've appeared in the previous era alongside Kremlin but ok, let's give Poland time to shine =)), UK (as British culture), Germany (possibly Prussia or Kaiser Germany) and France (again need to differentiate with Franks). We might also have Italy but that would be too many European countries.

There should be at least one or two culture from Africa so let's bet on Ethiopia  with possible inlcusion of Morocco (mb Zulus).

Americas could be represented by two from the following: Argentina/Mexico/Gran Colombia/ Brazil.

East Asia is Siam + potential inclusion of either Japan/China (although I doubt so given we had both of them in the prevuious era)

Modern era:

USA, USSR (mb Soviet Russia as a culture name), Germany (again, need to differentiate with prior era Germany and avoid reference to Nazi),  Communist China, Imperial Japan and India.

The rest can go to Indonesia, Brazil, Nigeria + mb Arabs to refer to all Arabic states in the Middle East.

@KonungBalt industrial era in HK is confirmed as 1700-1920 ,so it can't be Turks.

We are some to expect Iranians, but we are maybe wrong. Maybe Afghans ? or a culture from the Arabia ?

Yes, Turks this Contemporary era. That's why I doubted my guess. My incorrect guess is due to the fact that in the history of my country (Russia), the Ottomans are usually called Turks, especially in the time period you mentioned.

I agree that they may be Afghans. I can also assume that they may be Qajars. The best way to find out more precisely is to try to determine what kind of Palace and Quarter (market?) shown in the screenshot.

We suppose than the Palace is based on Ali Qapu Palace, a sort of interpretation obviously, but we are maybe wrong. (on discord)

And my personnal suggestion on the EQ, it looks like a Caravaneserail (Kârvânsarâ ), there is some rare exemple with two floors.

And yes Qajar could give some interesting flavor to this eventual Iranian culture.

Afghans could be legit, Iraqian too, maybe, Iranian is more ... iconic ?

This is really Ali Kapu. Then it's definitely Iranian culture. But how this culture will be called in the game is quite another question.

My bet on just Iranian. I mean, I don't expect another post-industrial Iranian/Persian being added. Trenscending from industrial Iranian to modern era seems okay, like Russian, Germans, and French for exemple.

I can imagine early modern Safavids being added later, maybe. So Iranian will be okay, I think ? The question is the affinity, with Qajar vibe, they could go with Aesthete maybe ?

I only have a bet on modern cultures, as I think modern in this game will mean contemporary and not WW2:
American
European

African
Chinese

Russian

Indian

Brazilian

Indonesian / Oceanian

Arabian

Japanese (maybe swapped out for Spanish Latin America)

In Humankind the contemporary era does start when the industrial era ends, which is around 1918-1920. So technically, WW2 is also part of the contemporary era.

Contemporary era started from 1945, and your 1920 claim is irrelevant because you heard and their is no source. The upcoming cultural card will clear it.
