Will the game adress the fortunes of war and peace that can reflect good or/and bad on a nation? Like devestating plauges, drought and so on.Many nations/cultures in history have balooned and the shrunked and even disapeard. Can you as a player/Ai bounce back from devastating losses of land/pop?

It doesn’t look like it will, but it could.  If you had penalties when you moved into an era with more stars than the minimum it might be doable.

I would assume that the ebb and flow of nations would come to represent themselves in the game without requiring mechanics in place to help it - as long as the AI could keep up (which is a pipe dream) and the game doesn't have glaring issues with balance, it's entirely possible that there will be wars and peace which see certain nations rise and fall - it would just take some strategic decisions to force the rising nations to fall. That, and it doesn't quite feel good to be told by the game that you were too good and deserve punishment.

Powerful empires must tend to fall from within, outside threats are too easy to eliminate.  Strong empires should get weaker until they get setback...weak empires should get stronger until they breakthrough.  Staying strong and getting significant fame in each era should be difficult (as opposed to the usual: get strong in ancient-classical and dominate all future eras...only competition being other empires that snowballed on other continents).   Since Fame is the win condition, you can win the game with your Contemporary Era empire as a backward one territory city (unlike all other 4xs)..as long as you had some good eras say Mongols, Roman-Byzantines.
