As we all know, the elephant can be equipped with anything in this game, such as war elephant equipped with spearmen,  gajnal equipped with artillery and so on.  From the information I get, it's lucky that there will be elephant unit in the industrial era. But there is no elephant units in ancient era, and I don't know whether there will be any in modern era . It's really, I mean, imperfect. 

I really want to conquer the world in this game with elephant units of all eras, and create an elephant empire. It would be cool if it could be done in the game. I hope there can be elephant units in ancient and modern era, even as the skins of other units. To be honest, it's nice to have these skins as pre-order rewards, if possible.

I don't think there is any records of a culture using elephants and famous for their use in ancient time. If it existed, it could happen one day.

I doubt than there is a culture in contemporary times which could have an elephant as emblematic unit, or again not as far as I know.

What you ask seems a little too fanciful for the flavor of the game. Elephants as "skins" for other generic units looks like something for the modding tool.

The inhabitants of Hindustan were the first to tame the elephants - and the first to send them to war. According to Indian sculptures and drawings, historians recreate the evolution of tactics: if the most ancient Indian commanders simply set dozens of elephants on the enemy, then from the middle of the 1st millennium BC. e. there is a tradition to use these animals as a central combat unit that needs reinforcements and a convoy.

but more seriously it seems earlier war elephant would be 6th century bce, which would probably fall into classical, maybe some culture could fit if you push it a bit and it was about their end

Maybe we could have some culture from china or india with them but evidence seems weak/we dont have a lot of info, like maybe some culture from late vetic era like Kuru Kingdom but its extrapolating some wikipedia info I'm not sure these one actually used any

some elephants units are already a bit pushing it like the gatling one which wanst really common and personnaly i dont want to force inclusion of elephants, it should probably be in mods rather
