Will the open dev that was announced for April be available for Stadia? I've preordered the game there, and I'd love to test it and provide feedback. Thanks!

Yes - please have it available on Steam as well.  I missed the second OpenDev because it was only on Stadia

think they should have announced another open dev if they ultimately knew they were going to delay the game even futher surely.

they said they will try to have one around 22th of april on the delay stream but didnt want to give an exact date yet

even if its on stadia only preoredring on steam shouldtn prevent from playing on stadia, issue with stadia is that its not present in every country and your require internet conenction to play

But from my understanding the main point of making the stadia openDev was to try if stadia could work for hk and see if there are issues, and maybe some partnership agreemtns or soemthing liek that idk

also they said issue with open Beta/EA is that its harder to pinpoint issues and fix them than openDev as with openDev you are having feedback on an "fixed" product while beta there are constant changes and maybe the feedback isnt from the right version or other issues like that

I think Stadia was well suited to the game, though my PC can run it without problem. I wouldn't mind going back to Stadia.

I'm in this boat.

The only thing I'm sad about the Stadia opendev, is that Google hasn't made stadia available to all countries.

Right now it's available, but back then it wasn't available in my country as well, but the magic of VPN came to the rescue! :]

I do hope they have another open dev and not a full "early access until release" as then they'd have to divert resources to the early access and server maintenance for the multiplayer. I prefer them focussed on development.
I just hope that a new Open Dev would then be at/around the original release date, as they hinted they'd try, and on all platforms so all who pre-ordered the game can at least play during the vacation days they took for the original release :p

An OpenDev is likely more resource intenseive, as they essentially have to make a separate version of the game. With Early Access they just have to release stable builds to players, which they already do with VIPs. As for server maintenance, they could just not have multiplayer in the Early Access. The problem with Early Access is reviews can be left, and if they are negative due to things being unfinished or unfixed, that can negatively impact the games performance on full release.

An alternative way of ensuring people with older computers can still participate, is putting the OpenDev on Steam, but adding GeForce NOW support. GeForce NOW is a lot like Stadia, but it plays from your Steam Library instead. Adding GeForce NOW support seems to be relatively trivial, and Amplitude has already done it for the Endless games.

maybe a stupid question but I pre-ordered the game on steam and if the next open Dev comes out for google stadia, will I still be able to play it or only people that pre-ordered the game on stadia?

all i know is that no OpenDev has been locked from preorder so far (it only helped getting it faster, without having to watch 3hours of twitch streams for example), so I think you sohuld be good.

Also the one on Stadia was completly avialable for everyone (barring countries where stadia wasnt supported by Google)

Thats said I'm betting on next one being on steam

Since they have so many people interested, they said they might do another OpenDev, but that doen't mean it will even happen. If so, anyone who pre-ordered will get a key, but again it's not even sure to happen
