Hello, Im really excited about this game.

I purchased it wishing to play soon, but it had delay issues. I totally agree with the delay, some open devs will help improve, and I got excited about it.

But I have an Mac Apple and I can't play it now cause it's only Windows...Why you guys did that? Give Apple owners an opportunity to play too! We also purchased the game!

Ty guys

Not like this makes anything better for you but I gotta throw this in... if you game on Apple you know you are the smallest gaming player base right? I'd imagine bigger than Stadia though for what it's worth but Apple isn't paying anybody to market games for them, PC wise. They only focus on mobile and don't look at the PC market in the slightest these days.

You guys can be vocal and it's your total right to be so if you choose, but you aren't anywhere close to being a target for marketing and just gotta accept the ramifications of that for choosing to play on that platform.

Apparently there are enough 4X players on the Mac that every major game in the genre is released for the Mac.

I also find it strange that there was no OpenDev for the Mac version. Stadia had an OpenDev so far, but there could be more.

And at least I didn't manage to get the current OpenDev to work with Crossover (Wine): I have single-digit FPS numbers and significantly delayed inputs on lowest graphics level. At the same time, the GPU is not used at all and the processor cores are not fully utilized.

But it's not released yet, so ignoring Macs for the time is no-brainer for devs. The purpose of this open-dev is to test gameplay balance changes, not to playtest Mac. When Stadia had open-dev, it was limited only to Stadia for the very same reason.

After all, the goal of OpenDev, to test game mechanics, is completely independent of the platform on which the test takes place. A Mac and Stadia version does not worsen the results of the OpenDev.

Internally, there will certainly be versions for Mac and Stadia, since only the balancing is in focus. I hope so, anyway.

But I also don't think that the Stadia version was not also a test of the stability of the Stadia version.

It might have been wise to announce a separate test for Stadia and Mac. It doesn't have to take place at the same time (now), but that way the users of the platform wouldn't feel so neglected.

It's not worsen the results, but its out of scope. It requires to prepare separate build, then process feedback separately to exclude platform-specific issues and so on. Amount of Mac players simply doesn't worth the hustle for now.

Stadia version was exactly test of stability, as it was the first time ever Amplitude released a game for that platform.

I'd say Sublustris is explaining the real heart of what I tried to convey with better detail here. Again, it stinks that you can't play the game right now when other people can but understanding why that is and waiting to see how people provide feedback of this version vs Lucy is the best you can do currently.

Okay, I agree with it.

But there are other points to be considered. I bought a game that will be released in April, I bought earlier to have advantages and bonus and the possibility to play earlier and this never happened.

Now the game was delay and I don't get any of the things they promised when they announced the delay.

I really want the game to be the best, so I wait until they fix everything and bring a amazing game.

But nobody said that only PC players will receive opendev earlier, they promised an open dev to earlier buyers, and I'm one of them...I just wanted this right.

Ok, we got it, people hate Macs and encourage us to switch to PC. Noted.

Now can we have an answer from anyone who actually matters in this context?

@pedropinho88: I agree.

@sabunia: Unfortunately, this is nothing new. I also received similarly helpful and competent answers to my question about the M1 version.

You won't get an official answer only a few of us plebians that are trying to explain this out big picture wise as to why you shouldn't have had any expectation, they promised nothing in specifics other than some avatars or whatever for pre ordering. Prior to preordering open devs were only given to few people. During that time even a fewer amount of people gained VIP status to participate in further testing in a closed environment.

A whole open dev was purely on stadia before and that burned pc players hype too like you are now. In the grand scheme of things though these opendevs are purely for feedback anyways and are actually quite honestly more work than enjoyment. Not a lot of people are getting this and thinking they are missing out on playing the full game early. If you genuinely wanted to test this game out to give detailed feedback it's a shame then ofc. The more feedback they get the better and obviously they should try to incorporate as many people who want to help them out with that.

I didn't at any point try to pull a simple argument card of "lol pc master race" so I apologize if you considered that was what we were doing.

I'm not talking about promises or demanding something.

I just got excited, wanted to play a game and I'm asking why can't we? that's it.

The pc version isn't ready yet though either.

I'm confused... I think this means mac version won't be solid at launch for August then lol. Rip @sabunia

Totally agree with all of you, the same problem.

Don't advertise a release date for both platforms and then, without notification, disappoint your customers in this way. Highly disappointing, and obviously they don't give a flying something about their customers.
