Where did you pre-order the game? Any request would have to go through the retailer.

For example, if you bought through Steam, here's a link to their refund process. I would suggest just going to whichever retail website and checking out their help page for information.

Best of luck, hope you're able to repurchase down the line!

I purchased it from this website and when I click support SEGA says they won't refund it I have to talk to the retailer

This Website? G2G is not a store front.

https://store.humankind.game/ Only Links to 3 stores; Steam, Epic & Stadia

Now can't speak for Stadia, but Steam & Epic will allow refunds (Original product is not release thus you have 0 hours playtime, most laws require them too in this case)

Thanks that link had a refund link on the bottom of the page and my refund is being processed. for anyone having a problem getting a refund is well I'll save you a few clicks just go to help.xsolla.com

Oh, so Amplitude did make their own store for Humankind, where they sell Steam keys and keep 100% of the funds to themselves (minus financial processing from xsolla). Neat.

While I prefer to get the developer the most funds possible, I absolutely do not like xsolla payment processor. I had huge problems with them when trying to buy (a different game/DLC) because they don't like people using VPNs, and even though I'm not using one, they think I am. And their customer service cannot understand English. So for Humankind, I bought through steam.

I agree, I prefer that the developer gets as big cut as possible, rather than any 3rd part.

However, as I wanted physical "steel box" collector copy of Humankind I have pre-ordered via 3rt party web-site. Even two different ones. One had it listed early, so I jumped on that one. Although their listing is a bit weird and has very little info and not even any image of the gamebox. Still it is a reputable site I have ordered products from many times before and never had any issues with, so it should hopefully be fine. Then another site I often order physical items from (only last week I had items delivered from them) listed it was well a while back (with images and all), so I have pre-ordered from them as well. If both are delivered my son will get one. If one happens to not be delivered in the end (for whatever reason), I hope that at least the other arrives. My son don't care that much if he gets a digital version or a physical. I'm more of the collector of such things than he is.

In any case isn't Xsolla also involved in Steam purchases in some way, shape or form ??? I have some memory of reading that somewhere. Now I got curious. Let me see what I can find...

...At least Xsolla have Steam (with logo) listed in their partner portfolio at their page (at the bottom of this link): https://portfolio.xsolla.com/home

The steam logo is a bit "greyed" out, or transparent (almost at the bottom right of that page in a grey area, beside the twitch logo), so it could indicate Xsolla is not fully integrated into steam and only in some capacity maybe. Maybe as a Gateway into adding funds to Your steam wallet or something like that.

Also Wikipedia lists "Valve" as one of the companies using XSolla services, link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xsolla

Xsolla is a payment services company, providing game developers and publishers with payment, billing, distribution, and marketing tools.

Xsolla is headquartered in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, California. It has offices in Moscow and Perm in Russia, Kyiv in Ukraine and Seoul in South Korea. Companies that use the service include Valve, Twitch, Epic Games, Aeria Games, BigPoint Games, Gameforge, Ankama Games, Gaijin Entertainment, Goodgame Studios, Snail Games, Chromatic Games, Digital Extremes, Ubisoft, and Roblox Corporation.

It could be that it's only in Russia as some notes, namely 2, 3 and 4 says at the bottom there, that they announced cash payment in Russia to Steam via so called cash kiosks.

After some more searching I found this article from 2011 as well, link: XSOLLA AND VALVE ANNOUNCE CASH PAYMENTS TO STEAM IN RUSSIA

So it would indeed seem that is only within The Russian Federation and not in general. Since the article is from 2011, it could be that this is not even active any longer. If want to know more someone else have to do some more digging. I'm not really that bothered to dig any further, he he he !!! :)

I only ended up digging a little bit as I had some memory of reading of Steam and Xsolla being related in some way and I got a bit curious.
