Will the player's color be always static?

So, I've been playing Humankind since the start of the current closed beta and something I noticed was that players have a default empire color and a default badge that represents their civilization. I would like to know if we will be able to change those colors and badges later on.

Considering that if You pre-order You do get some unique looking Celtic style badges, I would "guess" You will be able to customize based from that.

As us VIP testers are under NDA I can't really say more than that at this time. I don't want to accidentally give something away that has not yet been officially announced.

I am assuming that you will be able to set your icon and then choose maybe a 'main' colour? Maybe you will be prompted to choose from game to game. You will be able to create your own avatar so I assume you choose an icon and colour with that.

Yeah, why everybody is blue and have a horse in their crest on streams? I except we would be able to select our color, but the crest were not based on chosen civilization?

Yes, you will be able to choose your color and icon before starting a match. They will remain the same throughout to keep the empires you deal with recognizable (along, of course, with their avatar, but those don't show up on the map when you look at an enemy army...)

Sure.

Yeah, I thought exactly the same thing. Probably when creating a persona you'd get to choose a badge and default color.

Indeed. After a while it gets annoying to play using the same blue color. It would be great if we could choose the color before starting the game.

Maybe each culture could have a default color and we could choose another if two cultures had the same idk.

Empire colors will not change during a match, that would be terrible UI design. Constantly having all players' colors swap would make the map unreadable. You would have to completely readjust to learn whose lands are whose.

Avatars, team color, and team crest/icon need to stay the same each round. However these will be things that can be changed at the start of a new game.

I wasn't talking about changing colors mid game, but changing before the game even start. From what we've seen so far, it looks like the player will always be blue.

Slightly related, but will we be able to name our Empires? Seeing events talk about "Empire 6" and "Empire 2" and stuff gets a little silly.

An Amplitude team member answered to that, a bit earlier in this thread : "Yes, you will be able to choose your color and icon before starting a match. You can change culture during the game (every time you reach a new era you can pick a culture), so tying culture to icons/colors is a bad UI decision as it will lead to confusion.

Oh nice, thanks!
