I have decided to get a refund on the game. I'm not happy how the closed beta worked on getting access. I get the reason why it is that way so they can get feed back and people know where to go to provide it. Sadly you were not prepared and in my mind that makes me think how many more problems are there. This is not my first beta but it is my last for this company.

Who wasn't prepared for what? What exactly was the problem?

The problem I think is that people assume closed beta=finished product and they're too used to that assumption?

The game is still a work in progress technically.

NO I was never able to get into the closed beta. Never got the ability to try it out. It took me 4 hours just to get access to this site. I followed all suggested ways to get access and it never gave me the download link.

Sadly I won't be here in august, so I will never get to play Humankind fully, but I have enjoyed access to this last Closed Beta and I have enjoyed being a part and reading everyones posts on these forums.  If you can get over this frustration with the Closed Beta you will be able to have a fantastic historical 4x game to be immersed in come august,

Mate, I don't know what is going on in your life and I don't know you personally, but I wish you well and send you a hug.

I agree with the others, I think past performance of individual COMPANIES is more important that individual experiences of individual TITLES. So far Amplitude has produced above average experiences across their games. I understand that things not working can be frustrating, but I set my expectation to "everything up to release plus 3 months" is allowed to be totally broken. I'm rarely let down from quality companies in general with this mindset, and I hope that every gamer can come to a similar mindset for their own sanity. Good vibes and well wishes.
