In this game it seems you are expect to build huge sprawling cities made up of many different districts, but unlike some other similar games such as civilization VI, there don't look to be any sort of tool to plan how you want your cities to look like in the future, like a blue print mode.
Furthermore why can't we place and queue up districts in advance, like if I want to build districts in a straight line I have to place one at a time in the queue and once that district is completed I can place the next one in the queue which can get annoying once I have several cities and want to queue up stuff more.
It would be cool to have a planing tool and once you have planned stuff you could have the game automatically build the districts one at a time.
In my eyes a pin system wouldn't be bad to have, but would be far, far less important than in Civ 6 where placing a district is permanent, and overall, the city building is far more reactive, in the sense you don't need to plan several millenia into the future.. It would also be less convenient to use, since in this game you build a lot more districts, and would therefore have to use more pins.
Queueing up districts that require some other district would be nice, but would also involve a lot of annoying edge cases. What happens if you remove one of the prerequisite districts? Should the constructions that require it be marked invalid the same way they are if your stability drops below 30%? Or should they just be removed from the queue? What if you attempt to reorder it in such a way that a district is built before it's prerequisite? It could lead to bugs where you could district that shouldn't be able to be built, or the game incorrectly marking a district as invalid. Even after those bugs are quashed, it could still lead to behavior that some players may find unexpected, for example, there queued constructions disappearing, or taking an infinite number of turns to finish (especially since there is no indicator of the location of a queued, constructible that requires placement), even though that is normal and reasonable behavior.
I also agree it would be very useful to have a city planning tool using pins/colors and other features
+1 for this and Goodluck`s post as i also suggested the same feature in my posts. I believe such a system will help a lot with planning ahead and gathering adjacency bonuses. Even it is as basic as placing down some colored pins or text and removing it at your own will without further impact or dependency (although a more complex system would work too)
What FlamingKetchup describes as how such a system could be full of bugs although such a system does not even exist and finding fault in something that was not even made sounds very strange. I believe the Devs are more than capable to do such a useful system in a right way as they have a lot of experience in making good 4x games and refining the features and systems for them. Also what is the relevance in what is happening in Civ 6 or other games as this is not Civ 6 but Humankind we are talking about and to add a feature that is useful here based on how important or not it is in Civ 6 sounds again so weird. Just to ease your mind tutorials and notifications were made exactly for the purpose of covering "unexpected" situations for the user and teach him how the game and its features work so it is not a problem. Also nobody will force you to use such a system and you can play the game without it as it is now if you would like it that way
Even a simple pin mode could be very nice to have. While a more complicated queue system can lead to various bugs, you can likely find a decent solution for any problem that don't frustrate the player when a case happen which disallow building of a district. Sure by not doing anything we don't risk bugs, but we are also not improving the game, which too me seems like the worse option. Obviously there could be better areas to focus on like adding in more cultures to the game.

I'm just saying
1) Why I believe a pin system would be less useful than in a comparable game with a pin system. In other words, I was myself pointing out that Humankind is not Civ 6.
2) That implementing an apparently simple feature such as queuing up dependent districts might have a relatively large development cost. I'm sure that Amplitude could implement such a thing, just not if it is worth the time and energy.
Also:
3) It would be quite abnormal to have a tutorial about such a technical feature.
4) I'm not seriously worried about unexpected behavior causing frustration to players, just wanted to point out the possibility.
Yes it is about priorities, like how much effort is it worth to spend on stuff. If it take alot of effort for something that don't do as much as stuff that need less effort, it would not be worthwhile to add it in, atleast not before those less effort for more reward stuff is added in.

What other games do is not so relevant to Humankind. But i played 2000 turns in these OpenDevs and this problem always came up: wanted to build districts in some places and i could not make them all at that time. After the time passed i forgot how and where i wanted to position the districts initially and i had to start all over to think about positioning/planning them. I don`t believe i`m the only one with this problem. So a pin/notes/color system would really help

Maybe this is something very simple to do or not. I believe the devs are more than capable to evaluate this and do what`s best. Anyways i just want a basic system where i can put pins in different locations, choose a color and add a text as a note to self and remove them when i choose so. This alone can solve the problem. If something more complicated can be done as an option even better but it is not required.
3) It would be quite abnormal to have a tutorial about such a technical feature.
Tutorials are especially made for technical features to explain how they work to the new user. Also notifications are made for the exact purpose of notifying the user if something just happened (like something was removed from queue and why or why the construction will never end and is now at infinity and so on) so he can make an action and solve the issue
4) I'm not seriously worried about unexpected behavior causing frustration to players, just wanted to point out the possibility.
Don`t worry, the devs can implement features and mechanics in a refined way and also they can use a tutorial and notifications to help new users understand them.
Also the feature we are talking about is optional to use and if you don`t want to use it you can do without it but from my experience and not only mine it can be really useful/necessary to have
