Because of the cultures
Because of the space race
Because of nuclear stuff

Because of the units
Because just because

Why do you think the developers keep contemporary hidden for us, is it just because they don't want to reveal everything or is it something else?

When we accidentally learned about LT and the properties of EQ and EU contemporary cultures, the Japanese did not have their LT. I think this era is still in the works.

It really shouldn't be if the game is set to release next month. With little over one month to go, I would expect a game to be feature-complete by now and the real focus being on balance and bug-crushing

I'm seriously beginning to doubt this will release next month. Showing us the complete game with modern era units, combat and buildings would be a great way to ramp up interest in the game as it hits the home stretch. But if it gets delayed, so be it.

The OP asked ...

Does that explain my response or do you need more information?

One thing to note is that it's rather likely that the revealing of the Contemporary Cultures is very likely not accidental. I'm quite certain that they were supposed to show up in the Closed Beta. I believe that it's far more likely that it's simply a visual bug, and not that they haven't created the LT. All of the other Contemporary Cultures are complete, and the Japanese even already have an EQ and EU. I don't find it believable that the Closed Beta was launched with a single LT missing when everything else is already there.

And even if the Japanese don't currently have their LT, I would argue that doesn't allow you to come to the conclusion that the entire Era is still in the works. As you said, it's extremely likely that a game with one month until release would already be feature-complete, and a single missing LT (which may not be missing at all) probably shouldn't change that conclusion. It's more likely that the Era is finished and a visual bug messed up the LT, than it is for the Era to still be in the works.

As for why they haven't revealed the Modern Era yet, I'd assume it's because they'd like to surprise the players with the major features of the Modern Era.

Contemporary was hidden, but it has been revealed now, both with official weekly reveals and semiofficial "leaks" in the closed beta. OP should've been more specific. A single culture does not appear to have a LT, but that could very much be a display bug. All contemporary needs is balancing, and maybe for the last few features or models to be put in.

However, in the announcement of cultures, the alphabetical order was violated: after the Indians, the Japanese had to be announced, but the Soviets were announced, and the Japanese were announced last. From this I also conclude that work on the last Era continues.

The order in which cultures were revealed was affected by some technical stuff. Japanese and their LT are working and have been working for a while, the LT's tooltip was bugged and didn't show the effect, but I can assure you they have it and it works.

It has become less of a mystery. Thanks
