We don't have anything like the train station in endless legend to move units around faster. But in humankind we do, is it just because maps are bigger or is it because of trains are cool or do you have another idea?

Maybe it could speed up commercial trades or it could be cool to improve stability when it's connecting two regions and build next to it ( Not between cities )

That would however require a logistic system, maybe it could give an adjacency bonus to marketplaces to represent transportation of goods or even people?

I think it mostly comes down to the millitary and strategic implications. You are more or less expected to be building units all game, while in EL you often built a doomstack or two and then went conquering with it (from my experience).

Train stations also have the effect of nullifying all terrain between them for transport purposes. Even with super-roads, if you have to scale a cliff, that will slow you down.

I do feel that the economic bonuses from trains were far to small for something as revolutionary as railways though. The world becomes much smaller once railway infraastructure (as the industrial cinematic alludes to) and we do not really see that change anything. Does transport costs for trade routes become cheaper? Any sort of synergy for having cities connected (say, to your capital or something)? Not as far as I could tell from my games.
