A daft question - are we still on for a release in 4 weeks?

Since we seem to be able to get responses to our genuine concerns from devs on these boards, I'd like to ask the following, is this game going to release on 17th August or not?

Now, I know that's a pretty dumb question to ask since it is clearly stated as releasing on 17th August on the Steam store page and you'd probably be inclined to respond, 'of course it is you (insert a suitably insulting noun here)'. But I ask because the release was delayed out of the blue back in April and we're now in the 4-weeks-and-counting phase again. So it would be good to have it confirmed that you guys do indeed plan to launch it next month rather than have another delay, probably another very long one, announced just when we're all getting excited to play the full game again.

I really am very excited to get started with this game but if you guys are discussing another possible delay, I don't mind being told so now. Not at all. If you feel you need more time to work on it, go ahead. I'm fine with that but being told that it is being delayed yet again in another couple of weeks would likely cause more 'concern' than if it were announced now. Sorry but the open devs or closed betas are not really an adequate consolation for having to wait another 4-6 months.

FWIW, I think the answer is that you are going to launch next month. But I can't quite trust that it will because ...

I think after Lucy opendev many people expected a delay because of how unbalanced and messy the game felt. I don't think the general impression about the closed beta was the same, so I would say another delay is unlikely.

Given how incredibly easy it would be for someone official to come out and state 'Yes, it will be released on 17th August as we have announced already', I'm not sure it's that likely at all. There's no good reason to stay silent on this matter other than to keep their options open and there's no reason not to ask the question either since they announced that it would be delayed at roughly the same point back in March.

I hope the next time they release a title, (Endless Dungeon?) they announce a more vague release time, like Q4 2021 rather than 17th November 2021. It's great if you can actually do it but if you announce a date and then keep cancelling it, it isn't exactly a winning move. If you can't guarantee a fixed date, the advantage a more vague release date has is that you can hum and haw right up until Christmas before announcing a further delay and until then, you can remind the anguished souls who expected a Q4 release date to be 1st October that it's still Q4.

And there are plenty of folks who think it won't be released next month. Maybe not here but you'll find them elsewhere. I was expecting Poe to cover more eras than it did and we've seen absolutely nothing new of the game either. The last announcement on the Steam store page is from 1st April, the Power of Diplomacy. The silence is a little unsettling if you're expecting an August release.

Excellent news. I'm really looking forward to it.

Very best of luck with the launch.
