Will humankind feature crossplay between all or specific platforms?

I could not find any informations on that.

Honestly I'm confused here with the announcement that humankind is going to be on game pass at launch. We never heard a word that it was being worked on for console and boom a week before launch they say it is, or atleast for Xbox. So far as cross play is concerned.... Boy do they need to talk about this because not a single beta / open dev even hinted at console. Hopefully more official announcements vs speculation will unveil itself soon enough.

Also looking for this information. I plan to buy the game on Steam but my friend doesn't (he has game pass ultimate). So hopefully Steam-Microsoft store invites and crossplay will be possible.

For clarification: Humankind will launch on GamePass for PC, not XBox. There is no XBox or other console version.

As far as crossplay is concerned: I have checked with the producers, and have been told that crossplay should work between Steam, EGS, and GamePass.

Is this negation by omission of Stadia cross-play or just one big unknown?

Can someone please confirm Stadia will have no crossplay? I have pre-ordered on there with the presumption it does. The Store page suggest as such. See below.

If no crossplay at launch, will it be added at a later date?

The dev on stream today have confirmed Stadia does not crossplay with other platforms at launch. @The-Cat-o-Nine-Tales specifically.

They mentioned it somewhere early on in the video if you want to fish it out. As for if it will ever.... I don't think they said anything on that specifically.

NGL though, real talk here, Stadia is not getting any better and is extremely underwhelming this many years after they launched it. I would be fully prepared for google to discontinue it relatively soon like they do other failed tech projects. That or maybe someone will integrate what they have by buying stadia out and using it for themselves in some way and you'll be saved with the investment. Google certainly isn't doing anything to improve it themselves though and I wouldn't continue to drop money on that platform. While what you have brought forward as a screenshot is quite interesting to say the least, due to how unpopular Stadia is this might have been overlooked as an original plan with Stadia simply not being lucrative for developers nor consumers to accommodate. Heck I'm genuinely surprised Humankind is even supporting mac os at all tbh.

I absolutely do not hide from the fact my feelings on Stadia is biased lol. But I definitely also said you brought up an interesting point for your question, that they have it specifying it would have cross platform play. You certainly should be getting an official answer due to that.

Although one of your first statements is 'this many years after launch', which is already kinda weird for a service that's barely 1,5 years old. That doesn't help the factuality of the rest of your post :)

On topic, it's just weird that either Amplitude or Sega has put cross platform multiplayer in the Stadia description. And the fact that they still haven't changed that, even days after acknowledging that there is no cross play does not really play nice with the 'community first' narrative they are preaching.

Still looking forward to this game, but not being able to play with friends on pc is a big bummer since that was something I explicitly checked (and they explicitly stated on the Stadia Store page, thus purchases are based on that)

I really don't want to hijack the topic to bash Stadia, I was simply illustrating the consistent popularity decrease of the platform isn't on the up so it's a bad investment whereas epic game store did increase popularity as did Xbox game pass since they started. It's been almost two years since stadia launch to be clear, given how quick Google has a track record of dropping ideas it is not a moot point in the slightest, hence "real talk" trying to suggest to buy games you want on other platforms where you won't need to worry about the future of your game library.

Meanwhile... I posted relevant information to the OP before I ranted. Accurate direct input from the devs in fact via the video link I shared and roughly what they said in it prior to the twitter link a dev responded with which gave a conclusive answer. I mean with that twitter response /thread anyways now. Just look at zahns twitter link for anyone interested.

It is a bit disappointing and confusing. If they're willing to go through some work to add some minor Stadia-specific features, then I'd assume they'd also add crossplay unless there was some significant obstacle. I'm not sure what that could be.

I bought it on stadia anyway. Although the lack of Crossplay is still a big disappointment.

The performance and quality on stadia is good, and the direct touch control on the smartphone works fine.

I hope they'll add crossplay at some point in the future.
