So the edge scrolling slider basically does nothing, it's slow as molasses. And why isn't there an option to speed up strategic movement, similar to battle animations?

I agree it is painfully slow.  I've never seen any game or program scroll across the screen this slowly.  Is this a new feature or was it in the beta versions as well?

Old World’s smart unit movement is something that I’ve got used to very quickly and completely miss here :) On the other hand slow moving units fits in the mood and elegancy of Humankind.

From what I've gathered, it's always been like this, which makes it practically unusable for people who want to use the keyboard for panning and yes, the option to increase the sensitivity seems to be bugged. For the time being, all we can do is use the left mouse button to drag.

I haven't played Old World yet, what is this "Smart Unit Movement" you're talking about?

While I'd prefer being able to scroll faster using keys, left clicking and dragging the screen will help speed things up, it just takes some getting used to.

If you give move order to a distant hex it automatically moves the unit quickly. In short range units move slowly with detailed animation. So units’ movement time is approximately constant regardless of the distance.

Click and drag was the main method to navigate the map in Civ 6 and I actually prefer it. Coming directly from Civ 6 the drag navigation is a pleasant surprise and is well implemented.
