What determines what your Persona is wearing in the Personas selection screen?

I see some in rags barechested and some in suits and everything in between.  What determines what you're wearing? Your traits? Also I can't seem to see my own.  Can someone search for me and tell me what I'm wearing? Are my nipples showing or is my necktie so tight it is choking my blood supply?

You wear the clothes of the last culture you played the game as. So you can kind of tell what point of a game your friends are at depending on their avatars clothes.

You're currently in a suit. Looks like you're last save is as Japan. You can always see what your avatar is wearing when you click on the "Personas" tab on this site.

Do you mean the G2G Persona screen? I think the costume your avatar is wearing is the same as the base avatar you built your avatar off. Some base avatars come in tribal dress and others in suits.

No the persona updates after each last game exit, so whatever you were last wearing in the game you're currently playing is what your persona is seen wearing on this site.

If you're really tied to a specific look, you can choose one of the presets and then effectively recreate your Avatar's appearance from scratch to change your clothes to the preset's.  You can even find other outfits by choosing, say, a female preset for your male avatar and then switching her to male (or vice-versa).  For example, my favorite outfit requires choosing the "grumpy librarian" preset (I forget her name) and switching to male.  I wish you could choose custom clothes, at least for the version you upload, but the devs are probably too busy with gameplay tweaks to worry about something as comparatively minor as that.

Are we talking about two different things? You seem to be talking about how it appears in the game menu while I'm talking about my avatar as it appears in the G2G personas section above. Mine would be wearing a suit but she's not.

I think the OP can see his/her own avatar in the game menu ;) but if I'm wrong, too bad. I admit I don't know how the avatars' clothes are determine but I'm speculating.

Yeah I'm talking about how it appears here on the website (as well as how it appears in your current game). Both are the same.

Your persona's appearance updates to this site each time you quit your current game, so whatever your persona's appearance is in the current game = your appearance here on this website.

Recreating your avatar each time could be kind of tiring. I think if someone was adamant about their avatar wearing certain clothes, an easier workaround might be to just have a special game save file in which you play as the culture who'se clothes you want on. Load that save up quickly before shutting the game off, and the clothes will reflect that.

Have just done the save file thing before reading this thread.  (I'd thought it was the last game you played before saving the avatar, not after playing in general, but the response was the same.)

Thanks for the thread.

Okay, thanks for that. When I go to the Personas section, she always looks the same to me. I guess I don't get to see her updated image. So pant suit it is until the weekend.

Yeah that's another unfortunate thing.  You can't actually see yourself in the Personas list, only on your profile page.  So you never get to see how other people see you.

I tried looking for your name in the persona database and "Katrina" doesn't exist, maybe your sync is messed up.

When you go the the Personas page on this website your own persona is on the top right of page, so you can see how you currently look to everyone.

Is it possible somehow to change the way my persona looks to others? Are the looks customizable at all?
I like dressing myself up and usually like my characters in games to look cool. That's why I like games like Cyberpunk 2077, which has a great character customization menu. It's one of the most important things for me in a game, and I would not like a game if I didn't like how my character looks. I don't want to wear a suit from gentlemansguru.com shop and look all neat, but some style still should be present. I think all games should allow detailed character customization.

I don't know if it was part of a question at some point, but to have your persona show a specific appearance, you can follow those steps:

  1. create an avatar with the look you like
  2. play a game
  3. pick the culture with the outfit you wish to display
  4. go back to the menu, your avatar will then display said outfit
  5. upload the avatar to G2G
  6. It will appear with those clothes on the top right here
