Civ6 has a map type called Seven Seas. I love that map. Having tried all the Civ6 maps, it is my favorite by far, particularly for multiplayer. Reasons:

1) It is a mix of both large land masses and large bodies of water, but in unpredictable ways. You can't assume you know what the map looks like before exploring.

2) Despite there being a fair amount of water (maybe 40%), it's not an ocean, i.e. all water is not connected.

3) The map wraps without being an ocean, and without making the map an all-land map.

4) Boats often matter, but are not necessarily essential.

5) There are interesting narrow necks of land and choke points, creating strategic map locations.

I tried playing around with large lakes in Humankind, but they are still not nearly large enough to make boats there.
