Hi Goodluck,

Don't know about others, but I genuinely find your threads really refreshing and interesting; those are unique pieces of content on this forum. They're not for everyone, but there still are many people who enjoy reading your analysis and looking at charts you made.

Any content creator faces criticism. Critics are louder, and it's oftentimes hard to face it. Please ignore non-constructive criticism, and don't give in to rude and ignorant people on the internet. They only criticize, and rarely do something themselves. So there's nothing to respect their opinion for.

If you keep making content, I'll keep reading it because I find it interesting. And looking at the thread above, I'm not the only one.

I'm not much of a content creator however.

Math for outpost cost

Is not that known?

I feel my last few threads and post have been worse than my older ones, I feel it is time to improve but not sure how.

Not anywhere that I have seen. (especially with the new version). Attaching outposts is known, but I haven’t seen actual math for placing outposts (or upgrading them to cities)

Before the new version it was:
10*number of territories controlled + 50*distance to closest city

Number of territories controlled mean a territory with atleast an outpost and distance to closest city is 0 for neighbour territories and increase by 1 for each territory needed to pass through to reach the target territory.

If you don't have a city, aka neolithic it work somewhat differently, something like Sum 20*number of territories controlled.

I used to write better posts the last few weeks than I have done the last few days, not sure what have happened. It is probably time to redouble the effort when writing the posts. Or even triple the effort.

Even if I spend like 20 hours on a post will probably still be poor, which may indicate that I'm doing something wrong. I think I should just leave, I'm not useful for anyone here. Next post I will try to spend the needed time even if it take like 10 hours to write. It is time to do things seriously.

Your posts have been amazing.  As someone else mentioned, the posts don’t need to be high quality, a good thread can put together a good post collaboratively.  However, everyone has their own desire for how they want their stuff presented.  Unless you are secretly working for Amplitude, you can take as much/as little time as you want to do what you want.

Not sure why you think my posts have been amazing and I don't work for Amplitude. My next thread should hoplefully be of higher quality than the previous low quality posts I have made.

Is Humankind broken beyond repair, due to one strategy being way too strong, or is it fixable, or is it just a problem of a weak AI?

Civ 4,5,6 are all broken beyond repair, because building (almost) only archers and just maintaining many small cities (without actually building any cities/settlers) is just way too strong (feature creep makes other options irrelevant).

if 2 non ai players just build archers constantly (this is most OP in civ6), in a sea of AI factions, who will win and why?

Not sure why you ask that question in this thread?

Is this a good template?

I was asked about my thoughts about the goths and here it is. Given the low quality of my previous posts and thread, I have spent many hours to step up this one and make it better than the old posts.

Anyway I have chosen a method of writing that first go through each of the four aspect of the culture in this following order:

  1. Affinity

  2. Legacy Trait

  3. Emblematic District

  4. Emblematic Unit

This may not be the best order and keep in mind in general there is interconnection between the four parts of the culture.

After this I make an assessment of the culture based on the four aspects and talk about which cultures in the previous ancient and following medieval era that have good synergy with the goths.

Hey Goodluck,

I'll echo what my colleague already said: Your posts are interesting and useful.

They shine a light from specific facets of the game, be that entire systems or specific pieces of the game (like single infrastructures). There are a lot of moving parts to a game like Humankind, so it is always useful to point these out and discuss them.

And don't worry about being too critical of a game many people put many years of work into: That is what Games2Geather is for. As long as your criticism is constructive, it's more than welcome. We hope to continue working on Humankind for a long time, so player feedback (especially when well organized) is extremely helpful.

You don't need to worry about pouring a lot of time and effort into every post you make, either. Even a few sentences can raise a problem and invite others to share their opinions. But if you personally feel your recent posts don't have the same quality as before, I might suggest taking a break, take a deep breath, maybe play a different game, and come back later. We'd hate to see you burn yourself out over giving feedback.

I think I should delete the account, work on the next generation of posts and then create a new account that those posts are ready. I think that may be the most effective way to work as much as possible as the less distractions the better. I also like to stay unknown which is a reason to delete account every know and then.

Any idea how to make this image look better? Right now I use paint and got the tech pictures from the game by using windows key + shift + s.

Hey @Goodluck

You can use the official formatting that was used in the Tech and Unit posters included in the deluxe edition of the game. Example :

You might want to colour code each era with a different colour. Make the whole graph/tree horizontal for ease of use.
You can also simply do screenshots ingame and then paste them one next to the other to make a continuous image. Do you have a different image edit software than Paint ?

inkscape and I want to learn how to draw in general. So I will focus on that for the next few months. And probably not post anything for a long time. After having played video games for more than 25 years I don't find them fun anymore. I guess at some point most thing stop being fun if you keep doing it.

Thus I think I should leave and delete the account. Sure I like helping, but video games to me are boring. Like why keep on working on something that is boring?

You can use the formatting, not the file itself. Like make a column for each era and place the technologies horizontally. You can change the type of arrows, colours, fonts and whatever you like.

Just keep the general feel of the document and make your own.
