About the free keys:

Even tough I understand your disappointment that you've been too late to get a free key too, you DON'T have the right to get anything at all for free. Amplitude didn't need to give us 1000 keys for free, but they did it, for us, the community. The fact that the trailer that was shown at the Summer Game Fest did not even mention the free key giveaway shows us that they didn't want casual players to rush to the site and get all the keys within minutes. Amplitude wanted us, the fans who come to the G2G site on a regular basis to get those keys because we are the most dedicated fans.

Again, I understand that you're sad about not getting one of these free keys, but to be fair those keys where available for a couple of hours before the last one was taken. So everyone here had a fair chance! So what do you want now? Do you want Amplitude to give away 1 Million keys for free?

Accept that you are too late (this time) and appreciate that Amplitude has done something nice for its most dedicated fans.

Oh and about the Steam price bug, just be patient and wait for an update:

nhuckleberry wrote:

This is a problem with Steam. The steam store has been having issues with regional pricing removed in multiple areas in the past few days in many different games. People are so quick to blame the developers...

It was NOT FOR THE MOST DEDICATED FANS and NOT EVERYONE had a chance to get one!

There is a thing called "timezones"... just for your info.

In fact it was ONLY for fans of a specific part of the world.

For example most europeans with daytimejobs have been in bed during that time and as soon they would have had a chance to claim a key even as " most dedicated fans" all were gone.

If it would have been realy for the most dedicated fans (as you claim it was) they would have made a community event for it.... or atleast make them available in batches every couple hours or even a raffle would haven been fair so everyone had the same chance.

I got the key at around 18hrs... I live in Europe. I consider 18hrs still pretty much at daytime where I do not need to sleep. Sometimes I even still work at that time.

There is always someone that gets the inconvenient timeslot.

Man, please stop right now! Everyone complaining because they didn't get a free key, because they didn't set up a huge event to give everyone the chance around the world with different work-life conditions to be able to redeem a key for a DLC worth 10 euros, I'm sorry but this sounds ridiculous.

They can't organize something like keeping in mind the personal work life balance of people across the planet, I was lucky enough to redeem one and I'm happy but I would have probably purchased one anyway.

I appreciate the gesture they made and how present they have been in the forums, I also agree that this was a way to reward the people who visit games2gether very often, participating in the game's development.

Stop with this nonsense.

A lot of times this community just seems to want to complain for complaints sake.

I think trying to paint the OP as acting entitled is way off the mark. I'm one of the people who also got burned by the interface being inaccurate. I didn't see the announcement until it had been out for a few hours, but I decided to give it a look and see if any keys were available. I didn't expect any to be, I wasn't feeling entitled to anything. But then I saw that it said keys were in fact still available, so I got excited. Only to become quite disappointed when after I had filled everything out, I got the error message the OP showed saying that no more were available. So, I refreshed to see if maybe I had been a few minutes too slow or something, but the interface once again said that keys were still available. So I wasted even more of my time trying repeatedly to see if I could get past that error. I never did, unfortunately.

I wasn't expecting anything when the day began, but you can bet I was quite unhappy with being shown that keys were available and then doing the necessary process to get one, and then not getting one. That's not acting entitled, it's rightfully being frustrated at being misled. Now, I understand that it was probably an honest mistake on Amplitude's part, the misleading here wasn't intentional. That doesn't change the fact that it was quite frustrating for those players who had to put up with it, and it was an unforced error on Amplitude's part. Additionally, they haven't reached out or responded to any of the people who posted about this issue on the forums, even though it's already been a couple days. I'll buy the DLC eventually, but being one of the people affected by this mistake has made me decide to put it off for a bit, as I'm not exactly brimming with goodwill towards Amplitude right now as a result of this experience. The frustration will eventually fade, but it's still fresh enough for those affected by this mistake for it to be a valid source of discontent right now, especially with the lack of communication from Amplitude since it occurred.

I have clearly expressed my dissatisfaction that the developer wasted my time by issuing the key inappropriately. To be honest, I don't care whether I got the key or not. I just came late; But two days have passed, and the developer has not made any apology or explanation for this bug.

I have bought all the games and DLCs of the developers, and it is not a problem for me to buy another one, but I will not pay the money to a developer who treats me as a fool

In addition, I am very disappointed with the statements made by some people in the community. In my opinion, you are trying to create conflicts and transfer contradictions by belittling others. I do not agree with your views, so I will not reply to similar messages in the future

I saw developers' replies in the post. Obviously, they are more concerned about the impact of pricing errors on their sales profits than the unhappiness caused to others by their bugs

Did you also see all the dev replies in the bug report forums for said bugs plus the other forums or just these replies?

When you open any of the forums, like the Bug Report forum linked here, you can see before the threads start a section linking directly to the latest developer replies on that forum.

So, which developer post is related to my topic? Or do you just say that I can try to find relevant content here?

What I want to say is that this terrible thing has wasted enough time. If there is no valuable reply, I will give up paying attention to it.

At the beginning, I was very concerned about this matter only because I had enough expectations for the developers. From endless space to humankind, I paid close attention to each of their games. I think they are very happy to listen to the players' voices and interact with the players in the community. Even if the quality of humankind is not so satisfactory, I still purchased it in advance and gave my friend a copy. When African DLC came out, I bought it at the first time.

But now this matter makes me feel that they have changed. Many interactions are more like routine work than genuine community interactions

It doesn't matter what you think of this post, whether it's a complaint or other things. I just want to hear how the developers respond to it, even if it's a bug description, but I didn't get any answer

Let me try to answer a few of the assumptions an unspoken questions in this thread:

  • There was no huge event and announcement for this giveaway as it was part of the Summer Game Fest stream where we announced the new DLC, which also determined the time for this giveaway.
  • That the interface showed keys were still available even though they had run out was a bug, and we're sorry about the confusion and frustration it has caused.
  • After big announcements like we had this Thursday, there is usually a lot going on in the community, and we cannot reply everywhere, nor can every dev reply about every topic, e.g. a game director or producer would not be able to respond about a website-related bug.
  • Furthermore, on the weekend most Amplitude staff get time off, which means that replies will often be delayed until Monday unless we are facing a critical issue.

All that said, please keep the discussion civil, no matter where you stand on this situation and our response.

Thank you very much for your response, even though it came a little late; Wish you and your game can be better.

If someone from the studio had time to respond to someone reporting pricing issues on Steam (in both this and other threads), they were qualified and also had the time to respond to those who thought they were getting a Steam key but did not due to the interface error on this site. This is something that needed to be addressed literally the night it occurred, it left many of us rightfully feeling misled. False advertising of this type, even if unintentional, is incredibly serious, it's not a minor mistake which can just be brushed off days after it occurred. If the mistake is on your side (which it was), that's something that needs to be of the utmost priority for the studio to address and respond to. That didn't happen, which is definitely not okay.

I say this as civilly as possible, but Amplitude really failed the players affected by this issue with how it was handled, and trying to act like it was fine to take days to respond to that issue is not in any way okay. This was a critical issue, Amplitude misled a chunk of its playerbase in a way that had financial ramifications (even if unintentionally). So please don't further disrespect those of us already affected by this error by trying to act like it was unreasonable to expect a timely response from the studio addressing it.

There was a 6 hour timespan during which we had keys available. The last key was given out at 3:07 AM our time. We had a cache issue that didn't allow the "sold out" state to be apparent, we fixed this issue first thing when we woke up at 6:30AM. The email addresses entered are not kept, the redeem of the DLC being successful or not. Sorry that I want my team to have some rest.

Uh, the error affecting me occurred within that six hour timespan. I made a post about it on the comments for the news release here on the site at 2:54 AM your time, and this was after nearly an hour of trying and failing to get a key because it said that they were all gone when I entered my necessary information, despite showing as having keys available. So something seems to have gone horribly wrong here.

People were already in the redeem pipeline so they had the key booked for them and finished they steam login etc.. some minutes later, that's why I see the end of it at 3:07.

Considering that I had been trying for nearly an hour before I made that post at 2:54 AM your time, it seems quite unlikely that the redeem pipeline was full of unfinished steam logins for over an hour. I'm going to bed now by the way, so it'll be a while before I see any further responses about this.

That's not what the all seeing eye is telling me. Anyway, you came too late, it happens, we already argued for more time than the time you wasted entering your email and doing 3 clicks before being told that there was no key left.
